hope this is not a stupid question but... I have been reloading for years but not for competition long range stuff. I have been shooting Fed Gold Metal Match 175 gr in my DPMS SASS and it shot quite well.. nooo duh that is what it was designed to shoot. I have run out of factory ammo and worked up a hand load using 44 grs of Accurate 2520. max load listed in the manual is 44.1 so whats the bother of 1/10th pushing the same 175gr. Sierra Match HPBT. My goal was to copy the FED ammo as closely as I could. When I put them on paper they were 1 MOA right at 100 yds. I adjusted and were dead on. My question is since the elevation was dead on can I expect to have all of the DOPE for my factory loads to be good for these hand loads? Did I get that lucky? Also does anyone have anything similar that is working.

Re: .308 reload question.

42.5 grain varget with lake city brass, .010 off.
shoots just under a min at a thousand from a rest. shooter induced I last shot a 14" vertical group in my palma rifle with some flyers.
I would assume that your load is going to be good at all distances, but remember you adjust at 100, so be ready to adjust at 1k

1 MoA to the right means that the harmonics of the firing cycle is fundamentally different. you did not say if the MVs were the same (or even if you know the MVs).

If you had (HAD) achieved a FGMM replacement, it would print at the same PoI.

Suspect you have more work to do.

Re: .308 reload question.

Muzzle Velocities according to the Accurate data and the velocities printed on the federal ammo box were within 50fps. I am going to assume that the dope I have for the Federal ammo will work for this reload since it started out that close and now that the rifle is shooting sub moa it will perform like it did with the old ammo.

Re: .308 reload question.

You know what assuming does, right? Why did you ask for anyone's opinion if you had your mind made up? Numbers on boxes of ammo and manufacturers reloading data are not good substitutes for YOUR mv.

Apparently, two guys answered your question but you didnt like the answer so you are ignoring the advice. You can lead a horse to water....

Re: .308 reload question.

no offense but no one really has answered the question... First I was not looking for a completely different load I was interested in hearing from guys that are using 2520 and 175 sierras.. maybe there aren't any and thats OK. I was also looking for a conformation of " yes it will shoot similar at 900 + if its similar at 100.. or " no you this or that could happen and you could be 3-4 MOA off for some weird reason...
