M14, ar10... Any other types of semi auto 308 rifles that I could use to shoot decent accuracy [1 moa-ish]. And shoot relatively accurately out to 1000 yards? Probably just for fun, steel shooting and paper punching. Maybe some competitions later down the road.

Thanks in advance!

Re: .308 semi auto help

I absolutely love my M1A that I have in a Sage EBR Chassis. I love playing with it and it's my first ever 308. Yep, 1st ever. I've dropped over $26-2700 into it (and you'll drop coin to make it accurate) and will never sell it. With that said, if you're looking for accuracy you might as well go with an AR platform.
I love my M1A and its partially due to an attraction to the platform from over 7 years ago but it takes money to make it accurate.

Several systems to choose from LMT MWS, LWRC REPER, Scar 17H , M1A Supermatch. Also one bitchin system often overlooked Mike's Gun Sales and Suppressors has one righteous 308 AR platform all are within the close cost range. Check out Mike's system it is wicked!!

1 moa-ish is achievable with a standard M1A in a SAGE EBR.
Do you intend to mount optics or shoot open iron sights?

All depends on how much you what to spend to shrink the group size at 1K. I've seen some real shooters built from HK's an quality FnFal's. As groups start shrinking farther away, money starts the straight up curve. Bolts are a little cheaper, but not by much.

OK, if you go with the M14/M1A I suggest a SAGE EBR with the SAGE cantilever scope mount or a more traditional (SEI/Sadlak) scope mount.

At least 3 different butt stocks are available on the SAGE EBR. If possible, you should shoulder a few variants and see what configuration works best for you.

Re: .308 semi auto help

AR platform, no question. A builder like GAP would be best. Factory rifles I have used the LMT and POF and they are both really nice, I really liked the POF but some people do not jive with the handguard setup they have.

Buying a stripped upper+lower set like the Mega Ten and then adding your own handguards, barrel, whatnot would be an option too.
