I had a case separate in my 338, appears to be very well stuck, wondering if anyone else has experienced this w/ a 338 and what tool you'd recommend to extract the stuck brass with? Thanks any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

Re: 338 Case separation

If the head tore off of the case body then push a bronze brush down the bore through the muzzle.

If that does not work then push a cleaning rod all the way through the case and screw a very large brass brush into the cleaning rod and pull it into the case and then push it out.

Don't you hate those belted rounds for handloading?

As well as what Savage said if you have a brush big enough you can push it into the case and pull it out that way.

I have not had it happen with a 338.

I hope you get it out and back to the range soon.

Re: 338 Case separation

I've used snap ring pliers for removing stuck cases before with no problem.

ANY type of case can have a head separation including straight walled cases; it's all a matter of cartridge pressure, chamber size vs cartridge size and how many times you reload a given case. Also, not all "338" cases are belted.
