I've got a Silencerco Omega and have been thinking about getting another can. I like the Omega and have been switching it around on different calibers. But I do have a 338LM RPR and was considering getting something I could put on it too. I looked at the Hybrid 46 today, then did a google search on it. Most of the posts I found were a year+ old. Seems like some people think the Hybrid is quiet and safe for shooting with no hearing protection, while some think it's definitely not. Since I'd like to switch it around I thought the Hybrid would be better than the larger 338 Harvester. Will I gain too much recoil taking the tank brake off of the RPR for the Hybrid that it will negate the sound reduction I gain?? In other words...1 step forward, 2 steps back?

I have a harvester 338 and a hybrid.

338 LM is definitely not hearing safe with the hybrid with our without an anchor brake period. Recoil is pretty stout compared to the harvestor all else being equal for barrel length charge etc.

Frankly I'm not all that impressed with my hybrid on anything but I kinda knew that going in but it's pretty decent on 9mmpc and 45 acp/ 300 blk.

The harvester is decent in an open area. In thick woods or up against a reflecting object it will be over hearing safe at your ear. The harvester 338 definitely seems to take some recoil off though so depending on what your doing it's a great can.

Pic of my hybrid after the cheap ass glue or whatever they used failed lol. Still shoots fine.

I'd kinda like to get away from the RPR tank brake blast. A while back I took a short lunch break while I was shooting, and did some figuring on my chronograph velocities for averages/SD's. Went back to shooting while I was still thinking about the figures. First shot just about blew me off the bench. DUMB ASS! Forget my hearing protection...WOW!! Kind of an eye opener, LOL. I know there's better suppressors out there, but all I've been able to look at locally is the Hybrid, Harvester, and the Sig. Of course I did look at one a couple weeks ago at the gun show. Silencer Central (formerly Dakota Silencer) was there and the salesman said theirs (Sierra 338-Elite Iron maybe?) was quieter than everyone elses. AND it would take off more recoil than the tank brake too! Don't know how I passed that one up

I have no experience with suppressing a 338 but FWIW I had the opportunity to try a hybrid with a 300blk with subs, without a doubt the loudest canned blk I have ever shot......like borderline uncomfortable without ear pro....again that's just for what it's worth
