Thought I would share a picture of what my wife did at 38 weeks into her 2nd pregnancy. She spotted the goats, decided tags don't taste as good as the real thing and that she would have a go at them. She crawled the last 50 yards and had to wait for them to move for 15 minutes before she had a clear shot.
285 yards, 1 shot, wind was 25 with gust to 40...I asked how much wind she held and her reply, "1 mil". All the while eldest daughter and I sat in the pickup and waited.
Later that evening she shot a whitetail doe just to keep me busy:)

Re: 38 weeks and a goat

All I can say is they don't make'm like that much anymore. You are a very lucky man and must be very proud. I'm looking to move to MT in a couple of years. Anyway, that is a awsome goat and congrats on your bun in the oven.

Re: 38 weeks and a goat

Thanks for the complements. I feel blessed every day to be able to share my life with my wife and kids...
It is great to be able to enjoy the same activities. We shoot together on a very regular basis year round and she is very comfortable with a rifle and hunting

The antelope had shed the 2nd horn...We had a COLD spell a couple of weeks ago and they started losing them about 10 days ago. It is unfortunate, but it happens...the remaining horn will be mounted with the story written on the back of the plaque.

Re: 38 weeks and a goat

That will be one hunt you will never forget, my wife was only 3 months pregnant when she shot hers and I thought she was tough...WOW...They don't make many women like that. I figured you guys already had that little one. One of these times we need to get together and air out the rifles. Let us know if you need anything for your little ones.

Re: 38 weeks and a goat

Hey Owen, Pat,

We are currently down in the "big city". Sounds like we will have an addition to the family tomorrow.
The interesting part will be hunting with 2 little girls next fall. Let me see, one on my back, one on wife's back, 2 rifles and into the breaks for elk!!! If we draw...
Let me know when you are in town, you will have to bring the family out for the afternoon. We have steel strung out to 900+ yards from the house and can go further...

Oh yeah, where were you last Sunday Owen?...I had steel at 735..it was too big, but it was there and we had precision speed shooting at 300...Next year???

Carlson...many of the women in this part of the country are raised this way...

Re: 38 weeks and a goat

I was going to bring my oldest girls and come up, but one had basketball practice and one was in the ER the night before with a 105 fever...I didn't figure we should help spread swine flu even more. Hopefully we can make it up next year. Good luck to you both on your new arrival...they are a blast.

I'll take you up on shooting at your place, let me know if you need some railroad tie plates, I've got a few laying around.

I will take that as sound advice from a man much more experienced than myself...
Next we will have to discuss this dating issue...

Re: 38 weeks and a goat

Very cute daughter! Glad momma and her are well. Probably easier to shoot a goat than have a baby, never did envy that part of it. We ended up with all boys, always wished we had a girl but someday we'll have some daughter in laws to spoil.

Wow, I wish I knew this back in '97 before I met my wife. I thought I was lucky to have my wife racing my car (needed someone to scrub in new tires) when she was 8weeks pregnant with our first. To be hunting at 38 weeks, now that's just HOT!

My wife cringed at the thought of me taking out almost 5 year old out deer hunting with me this week.
