Time for me to buy some new glass and looking for you guys advice/guidance. The problem is shops just don't carry these scopes so I can't just go out and look through them. Going to look through a buddy's 7-35 next to my razor 4.5-27 and a 5-25 PMII next week. Am I missing a great scope in this price range with the scopes in my poll.

My vote is Tangent Theta. Haven't used the Nightforce or Minox. But I have used the S&B and I didn't like it. I chose TT because it satisfied my needs. The only other one there that is close on paper at least is the Minox. It has better reticle options than TT but man... I can't imagine a better scope than my TT. The image is stunning and the turrets are fantastic. I like that they don't translate and that the second turn indicator pops out and that the diopter locks and the tool-free zeroing works great.

Which of the three reticles for the S@B pmII 5-25x56 would you recommend? And explain your reasoning. Thank you, I'm putting it on RPR with a Bartlien barrel.

I just bought my 2nd S&B I also have 2 Kahles and 2 Vortex. The S&B have the best glass and with new price I got my PMII 5X25 non-locking with the Tremor 3 reticule for $3300. Don't get me wrong I really like the Kahles but for $550 I just went S&B. They thing I don't like about NF is when you adjust the magnification the entire eye piece spins.

The Minox is a fantastic optic, I had one for a spin and while the glass was outstanding the overall optic didn't tickle me as much as I've experienced with others. I absolutely love the NF ATACR F1's but couldn't bring myself to love the mil-r reticle. I have also considered the 7-35 but am cocerned with the reticle size of a FF optic on that high of power. Not to mention the S&B at forty five! I can't make a valid opinion on the two as I haven't seen them, but couldn't imagine the reticle to be useable at those higher magnifications, at least for precision work. I haven't been behind the TT but would assume it is outstanding -- but maybe my assumptions feel this way because of the price factor. Surely an optic that cost 4500 has to be amazing right? You have a very appealing list of optics to choose from and I feel your frustration with not being able to get behind them all to help you make your decision. I was in this predicament just a month ago. While I jumped on the Minox based off of numerous positive reviews and recommendations, I ended up taking a small loss -- moving it down the road and buying a PM2 5-25 DT from mile high for 2695.00. I love the optic and absolutely love the gen2 xr reticle. This goes to show everyone has such fine opinions of optics and you really just don't know what you'll like until you find the right o e for you. Good luck! Let us know what you choose.

I really like the Minox and S&B, I actually prefer the Minox over the PM2, but I also appreciate the PM2's resume. Either is money saved over the TT. Can't go wrong with the ATACR either, except I don't really like the NF reticles. The thing is, I've never looked through or touched a TT before, so take that for what it's worth. At this budget they're all great, it's reticles that become important to me.

Something else not mentioned that provides outstanding value at the prices you can get them right now is the gen 2 razor. It's less than half your budget and it has all the features you could want.

I think if you could provide us with a little information about the rifle/purpose it would help.

Covert is as Covert does.

Plenty of good feedback on the scout site.

+1 for ZP5. Street price is $1,000.00 to $1,200.00 less than TT. For that much money, the glass in the TT would have to be more pleasing to my eye by a very wide margin. That could be the case as I have not looked through a TT yet. I'll deal with that problem if I run across it. In the meantime, I'm really stoked about the ZP5. I own one now, second one is due to be in my hands next week.

Was that PMII 5-25 DT a demo model? I was looking for it on their site and I can't find it - or any S&B 5-25 at that price. I'd jump on one at that price.

$4.5K "budget" ...... LOL

I did scratch my head when I saw the "Budget"? If you have the money blow it!!!! I, on the other hand always like a little value in the equation. I don't mean be cheap. Think, a good deal!!!

I have a Gen 2 Razor ERB-2C Moa and the only reason I would lust after or need a new/different scope would be reticle design/ intended purpose of said rifle. Think Vortex AMG ERB-7C awesome reticle, lighter for hunting/PSR competition.

I'd take either the S&B or Minox, but that's me. I can't imagine a bad choice here. I find the S&B the most well rounded, while I like the TT's turrets the most. Optically, I'd give the edge to TT and Minox, but we're talking slight here. Some people think it's night and day, I personally don't. In my experience the Hensoldt is the easiest to get behind. Most user-friendly when it comes to exit pupil and eye-relief. What I don't like on TT is the limited reticle choices and I'm really not a fan of the XR. I personally like the MSR reticle above all others with the Minox MR5 being a close second.

I am curious though about the new S&B multi-turn turret that appears to have (de)selectable MTC feature and their new LRR-Mil reticle. With the slew of new features and scopes coming down the pike from S&B, I'd probably wait and see before making a final decision.

I would extend the budget by a grand and get two S&B 5-25 H2CMR's on closeout, or two ATACR F1 5-25 MIL-C's. Or buy one of either and have money left over... or get one of each.

^^^ What redneck said. Just picked up a 3-20 Ultra Short for a build that should be completed soon and while I was on the phone with them I asked for a quote on a 5-25 with standard DT turrets. Both Mile High and Euro Optic quoted me an awesome deal on a 5-25 PMII. Spend $3k (actually, a little less) and put the rest toward a class or comp.

Already have a 4.5-27 razor. Wanting something different.

If you already have a 4.5-27 Gen 2 Razor, hang on to it and buy a ZP5-MR4. (Disclaimer; I haven't looked through the S&B 5-25 glass, but there are some really good deals out there for them as well). K624i's are readily available and are really great scopes too.

Lol, a budget scope. Or, "$4.5k budget scopes..." Don't matter, I know what the OP meant but somebody read it correctly and got slammed for it.

Personally, if I had a budget of $5k for an optic I would contact the likes of Okran directly and not ask for advice on the Internet. I would also have the funds to travel to the scopes and test them before picking one out.

You're right. If one truly has $4.5K to spend on a scope, another $250-500 for a flight shouldn't be a problem.
