Hello, I am wondering what would last longer a CHF 4150 chrome lined barrel or a SS CHF salt bath nitride barrel. Both using brass cased ammo. So I want to buy the new daniel defense mk12 SPR but I just want to know if the SS CHF salt bath nitride barrel will have the same barrel life as a standard 4150 CHF CMV barrel. Thanks.

You'll get the same use out of either barrel give or take.

BTW I would think long and hard before spending 2200bucks on a rifle when you could build something that does the same thing for <1500.

Thank you for your reply! I know what you mean about spending $2200 on an ar, but it's my first ar15 and primary arms often has a sale to where all DD rifles $400 off so about $1800.

barrel's are cheap compared to how much ammo it will take to shoot it out.

Not sure how many rounds the DD CHF stainless nitride barrel will run, but a chrome lined barrel(and some say the nitride is just as hard or harder) will run sometime 30k rounds(maybe more) before losing accuracy. If a DD CHF stainless nitride barrel will run 10k rounds, and you are running $1 a piece match ammo through it, thats 10k bucks. The barrel will likely run $400 to replace. Chump change in the grand scheme.

Dont worry about barrel life. IF(and thats a big IF) you shoot the barrel out, cheap as hell to replace.
