I'm not throwing them under the bridge. I've got a religious mandate not to eat halal meat ever, and I find the notion of informing God the Omnipotent and Omniscient that I intend to slaughter an animal a bit ridiculous. He knows what I would intend to do.

Interesting to learn, that's something I didn't know about your faith.

In my case, I prefer Kosher, if offered the choice, but will do Halal or neither also, sticking of course to clean animals mostly (except bacon, because well it's bacon).
But those slaughter methods do tend to make a mess, and throat cut animal noises are a bit disturbing.
You can if you wish kind of do a hybrid which is what a lot of the not super strict ones have gone to, zap their brain just a bit, or smack the animal upside the head so to speak, then string them up, so they are alive, but not conscious.

You can do it a lot cheaper usually, just get a Double Double, all black, skip the fries and drink, just add water and their peanuts (water and roast peanuts are free in the 5 guys closest to me)

Prefer Smashburger myself. Never saw the allure of In & Out either...too much like a White Castle or Krystals.

Actually, the best local chain around here is Islands. Damned good burgers!
