Rifle Scopes 50 mm or 56mm

Is there any reason why I shouldn't get the 5.5x22 mil/mil Nightforce NXS in 56mm rather than 50mm for my AR50A1. I've heard there is no benefit of the 56mm but at the same price would it be a bad choice. What say the hide?

I have noticed the 56 are just a tad brighter than my 50 NSX.

As long as the 56 doesn't require a higher mount, why not go with it.

I have 2 of the 56mm. There is a difference in the brightness with the 56mm and in the field of view (compared side to side at the same time). You can get the same rings with the 56mm being a little closer to the barrel. If you were looking at the 3-15, then the 50mm would be alright.

Don't be scared of the 56mm obj. I rock a 58mm USO!

I have both in 5.5-22. A 50mm on an AR platform and 56mm on my bolt gun. IMHO the 56mm is getting too tall on the AR.

56 on my Windrunner wouldn't have it any other way on a .50

Thanks for all the input guys. I think the 56mm will work out just fine too. Now just gotta bite the bullet.
