I loaded a few up at 42.5 grs of H4895 loaded out to 2.810 and the last little groove sticks out some on the bullet. Anyone tried these? Will they have close to the same ballistics as a 168 SMK? I am thinking I should be running about 2600 FPS with this load?

try 43-45 grains of varget and IMR 4064.this is what I use with a 168g/175g smk.but 43g of 4064 is the load I use,and 45g of varget.play and you shall see what it likes.hope it helps.

Thanks man...I loaded up 5 rounds of 42.5 varget to try. Have you noticed about the ballistics as your 168 SMK? Also I losed to 2.810 and about half of the last little Barnes rings is showing, looks kinda goofy but I guess it is supposed to.

you should be able to get that bullet to shoot.the twist is the right twist for 168 grain bullets just play around and you should get one to shoot one ragged hole.

I am running the 168gr tipped TSX's for hunting in Winchester brass, CCI BR2 Primers, 44gr Varget, OAL 2.820 for the bolt gun and 2.800 for my DPMS SASS (Mag length is shorter than my AE) and like 5r says both shoot a ragged little holes 100-600 yards.
I also can see the ring sticking out, don't worry about it they say it is normal.

In my GAP, I shoot 44 gr Varget, CCIBR2's, Lapua brass & 168 TSX's seated to 2.805". It shoots basically the same as FGMM 168 MKs out to 400+ yards and shoots to the same POI (in my gun).
