Hello all, I am just curious as to what factory ammo others like to use in their 5R. I have the 24" barrel. So many choices it is overwhelming. Going to try FGMM 168,Hornaday 168 BTHP and AMAX this afternoon. I guess I need to do the same with these in different grains. Next I am going to try some of Southwest Ammo in their different offerings. Another question is that I have had my barrel threaded and waiting on my Thunder Beast suppressor. Will this change all my results from unsupressed? Also have found subsonic ammo from Southwest,Corbon, and Lapua.Very overwhelming and expensive process ! Would love to hear from you other 5R shooters. Thanks

Re: 5R factory ammo

When I use factory, my first choice is Black Hills Match 168 BTHP's then Federal Premium Gold Medal 168 MK BTHP.

I mostly make reloads w/175's w/RL15 or Varget.

Re: 5R factory ammo

No two rifles, even of the same model, are the same and will shoot all varieties of ammunition the same. Get a sample and try them in your rifle and you'll then know which is best for your rifle.

Re: 5R factory ammo

Rem Match shoots the tightest groups for me with GMM right behind it. Hornady Match best bang for buck followed by Privi Match. Lapua 155's show great promis but too pricey if not competing. I enjoy shooting steel plates so minute of pie plate is all I really require out of my ammo. That being said I'd be willing to bet the 5R would shoot 3/4" groups with Core-lokts, might have to test that.
