Re: 6.5-06
I burned a tube in one, took me just shy of 1500rd and 3 months. A friend of mine is on his second barrel. The rifle caliber excels with barrel lengths over 26"
My 28" barrel was throwing the 140 Bergers at 3175fps quite accurately. The 31" barrel on the one my friend is currently running needed to be reigned in because the Bergers were disintegrating in flight around 3325fps. He's shooting the slower node in the high 3100's to low 3200's now with them and the 140 Amax rocks at 3240fps
Recoil is not bad, more than a 260 but that's to be expected when you're pushing the same bullet with an extra 15gr of powder and another 400fps.
I think that it's a great hunting caliber and a great 800+ caliber, but for a lot of the matches around us the number of shots out past 800yd are small compared to the shots that are inside of 700yd and the smaller, lighter 6's and 6.5's are better suited to that game.
