Re: 6.5 Berger 140 long range target boatails non-vld
I have come to the conclusion that do not necessarily have a need to shoot the 140 match lr bt bergers (be it I like to use my mag for the fun factor), any much suggestions on other rounds that don't mind a little jump, maybe lesser grain (120 grainish), preferably b.c.'s near .500, little bit more tanget ogive n' such? most of my shooting will be done out to the relm of 6 to 7 hundred yards (enough kinetic energy still for a well placed shot on a muley, and certainly a massive smack factor on Mr 'yote.) Or ditch the hs bottom metal and go with Wyatt's standard box 2.995, I make the mistake of not telling Benchmark to keep the freebore shorter. Your thought, anyone's suggestion? Handloading's admittedly new to me, shoot at extended range is not new to me (I live in the desert, go figure), shot my fair share of black hills through Ltr's, Pss, 700 mil-spec's,Barrett 99, but I new the caliber I wanted barreled would be a 260, which is nothing more than a 308milspec trued up,rebarreled by Benchmark 1/8 twist MTU contour, bedded, with hs bottom metal (which I notice not always a whole lotta positive stuff said about hs period), topped with Leupold Mk4 4.5x14x50m1, warne rings and base. Probably too much info.
