Went out this morning and shot 4 different factory offerings and thought I would share the results. The ammo was Berger 130, Prime 130, Hornady 140ELDM and 147Eldm. The rifle is a factory Howa 1500 #6 with a PVA brake sitting in an oryx chassis. The rifle is topped with a swfa 10x42 (the old moa/mil mix) I first shot 2 rounds each at 100 to check zero offset between the ammo.

I then moved out to 300 and shot 4 shot groups. These were shot round robin style 1-2-3-4-4-3-2-1 20min break 4-3-2-1-1-2-3-4. I was surprised that the Berger didn’t perform as well as it usually does. Usually it is as good as the 140 Hornady but today it wasn’t. (Could have been the loose nut behind the chassis)

I also shot everything over n F1 optical chrony and these are the averages I saw.

In a few other tests I’ve done the Berger normally stays around .75-1moa. There was a right to left 3-9 gusty wind that helped to open the groups up a little today. With the wind picking up I decided to hold off on the longer test but will revisit them out around the 800 mark soon. The Prime shows promise in its vertical spread and I believe it will do good on a calm day or in a steady wind. I will updat afree I get that test completed.

for reference 4DOF lines the Berger ammo up at 2920 not 2786. One of these days I will break down and buy a magnetospeed.

The Berger’s I got up to 2875 out of a 24 in pva barrel. My RPR slings them around 2825-2840. I’ve always had good accuracy with eldms also but are just too slow for me at 1000 yards.

That is the reason I never ran much factory ELD ammo. No I have a hand load pushing them 2850ish. That’s going to be part of the next round. At distance and some handloads added.

I have a proof barrel that I estimate will push them 50-75 FPS faster. My pva barrel did. Still I like the accuracy I get out of 130’s. Old Prime and federal Berger’s is what I mainly shoot.

Update...
Where I shoot is in a wind shadow of sorts so with the light winds today I shot every thing straight up today.

Finally got out to put some distance on everything today.

130 Prime 2738av 12.8sd 36es This one threw me for a loop. First shot 1 mil right hold 1 mil which puts the crosshairs on the 2x4 leg 2nd shot no call hold straight up 3rd shot impact. Shot 5&6 1 mil right.Shots 3,4&7 make for a .62moa group. After looking it looks like 1,5,6 were edge hit that were Ricochet To make the splash look so far off. Shot 2 went through 2x4. Add in the edge hits and it puts the group to right at 1moa.

This round I also shot my hand load. 140eldm 2722av 7.6sd 23es .62moa group with the last 2 shots missing off the right side.

My chronograph reads slow. For example the Berger is .5 moa high at 100 used 18 moa at 780 and was right at 1 moa high. Plug the numbers off the box into jbm (2921) and it comes up with 17.8 for 780 pull the .5 out and it would line up with their numbers way better than mine. 2779=20moa
