Just got a 6.5cm tikka ctr 20in barrel. This is my first 6.5 and looking for advice on factory ammo for range and for hunting. Most shots will be 100 or less with occasional to 400 while hunting. Plan on shooting 500 to 600 at the range just wondering what others have had success with. Gonna shoot some first but may end up adding krg bravo.

Find some Hornady American Gunner 140gr. Or 140ELDM. Both should shoot fairly well in that gun. Shoot the gun stock and see how you do. Upgrading the stock will really only make the Tikka more comfortable for you, probably not more accurate. The Tikka factory stocks work fairly well for what they are.

My 24in CTR in 6.5CM is shooting the Norma Match 143gr ammo really good. Price is $22 - $24 a box so makes getting lots a practice affordable. I hunt with Hornady Precision Hunter and have killed a mule deer at 600 yards.

Have used the factory stock with a cheap cheek riser pad/pack for years. Just put a Bravo on for more functionality and added weight for shooting matches. Rifle doesn't shoot any better or worse with the Bravo.

What scope do you have on the rifle?

No scope at the moment. I have a leupold vx5hd 56mm I'm thinking of putting on it. But also searching for options as I see alot saying they don't track but I need to test this one. Gotts get some rings also thinking seekins

Here's Hawkins light tactical medium height rings with a Mark 5 5-25x56mm, factory rail. Built in bubble level on the Hawkins made me sell all my seekins and switch on all my rifles.

Hey bud I finally got around to shooting my tikka ctr 6.5. I put a trijicon credo hx 4-16x50 on it kinda wishing I'd went with a 24x for more mag at distance. The 140eldm shot best of what I had 147eldm and 143 eldx and sb 140 fmj were all about an inch the 140 were about .5. I'm wanting a brake but not sure which one I don't want alot of concussion back at me was looking at pva didn't know if you had a suggestion. Also wondered about a tuner brake but probably don't need it. Plan to go to 1k yards eventually.

Hornady Black performs great in that rifle.

I would recommend getting a trigger spring so you can turn it down. They’re less than $20 shipped and it’s something you can install yourself.

The Area 419 Hellfire Match reduces the recoil and muzzle rise. They’re worth the extra money in my opinion.

You have to choose, recoil reduction or less muzzle blast. Consider a suppressor if you want both. I don’t see a lot of people shooting suppressed in competition though.
