I have a pretty accurate bolt action 6.5 Grendel. I had it built to be my deer gun here in Texas, maybe 200# on the hoof and that's a BIG one. Hogs and Axis deer.

My main reload is 28.0 Gr. VV540 with the 130 gr.Berger VLD , I am getting 2400 FPS. I also am shooting the Barnes 120 gr. Tipped Tripleshock to 2500 FPS

Is this "enough gun" given a well placed shot out to 300 +/- yards???

Your thoughts and opinions are welcome.

Sure is--I have used it for everything in TX--great choice

personally like the AR format for quik follow-up shots on hogs and coyotes (and doubles) but have a spare bolt action that I was thinkin about chambering in a Grendel

am experimenting with 14.5, 18, and 24" barrels at present
---even thought an XP100 pistol in 6.5

For hunting loads- try these below.
They were very accurate in MY Grendel build.

I worked up to these loads. Use Caution

<span style="font-weight: bold">100gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip</span>
30.5gr. TAC
Lapua/AA Brass
CCI#450 Primer
OAL- 2.250"

<span style="font-weight: bold">120gr. Nolser Ballistic Tip</span> (<span style="font-style: italic">most accurate</span>)
31.4gr. BL-C(2)
Lapua/AA Brass
CCI #450 Primer
OAL-2.240"

<span style="font-weight: bold">129gr. Hornady SST</span>
30.0gr. BL-C(2)
Lapua/AA Brass
CCI #450 Primer
OAL- 2.260"

Its Plenty of gun for 300+yrds. I would go as far as 600yrds with it hunting.
