Finally got to play and run some test loads, No RL26, H1000 or Retumbo to be found, so i figured i would burn the 7828 i have on hand, Mainly looking to hunt deer and maybe an Elk with in 350 yards or so, so i dont think i need to eek every ounce of velocity out of it at this point. Starting loads were 49.7 grains and worked up to 54.7. Mostly 3 shot groups with each, and did get chrono data, 140 grain Nosler CC. Surprisingly their was no horizontal change though all of the loads, Vertical had a slight change from starting load to 51.2, impacts got slightly lower, about 1/8 inch per group, 51.2 up to 54.7, pretty much shot the same group at 100 yards, they did open up and close in slightly though the groups. Biggest group was .93. had 3 groups that were under .5. was shooting off a crappy table and sitting on a bucket. Starting VEL was 2550 and went up to 2813. Had no pressure issues, and didnt run up to max load yet.
Going to run some Berger 156 EOL in it next and see what it will do with better projectiles. will start low with powder charge and work back up. Rifle is a C Arms Traverse. Loving it so far!! Recoil is light, the break is loud though.
Just thought i would share as i have found no info on the 7828 with the PRC. If the 156s do not work out i have some 143s eld to try out!
