I have a pva chambered for 140 hybrids that does very well with the hybrids. I found the eldm's for .31 cents apiece at midsouth shooter. Are they worth it? Or should I just stay with hybrids. The savings of 100-150 per 1000 is enticing.

Not sure what PVA's freebore is, but I have a feeling you will find that in order to keep from jamming them into the lands, you will have to stuff them way down into the case.

Ok, do you have the 140 eld on hand? Maybe I could get a base to ogive measurement, I've got a hornady comparator and could measure the hybrids I have.

seems like giving an opinion may anger some but here goes. You are already driving a cadillac, why get into a ford? I get it fords are cheaper than cadillacs and curiosity of how well it drives for less money.

Depending on freebore, you may have to stick that eldm further in the case. maybe .030 to .050 not huge deal. Shot alot of 140 eldm in 6.5 cm. good bullet does well. i now shoot 140 hybrids in a 6.5x47. i noticed some fliers with the 140 eldm maybe few per box just were off the target edge when it should have been a hit. not a huge deal since im not a top prs shooter but the problem grows with distance and targets can be small in prs. so if your distance does not exceed 6-700y you probably wont see a difference. hybrids at distance are extremely consistent and just flat out work very well.

its older but doubt it would look much different from 2019 season

I believe PVA uses a 0.145” freebore for 6.5x47L, which is perfect for Hybrids but ~0.050” short for ELDMs.

I had the opposite issue last year, my x47 was made with too long of a freebore, so I pretty much had to switch from the Hybrid to ELDM. At PRS style comps I didn’t notice any difference downrange, though I did feel dirty not shooting my precious Hybrids lol

If you’re using Varget, you will likely have plenty of case capacity left to stuff an ELDM down the neck a bit. If the cost savings is worth it to you there’s little harm in picking up a box of 100 and trying them out to see how they shoot. It’s a x47 so it’s very likely it’ll shoot lights out with any bullet you throw in there.

Or wait til you have 1000 rounds down the barrel and switch to the ELDMs, as the throat erosion should have you in a good spot.

Right now I've got 400 Berger's left and enough varget to shoot about 1300ish rounds, I'm going to try and get a 100 eldm's and see how they do. Coming from nothing but 308 for the past 2-3000 rounds I love the x47, much easier to load for. I guess my main conundrum is in a situation where a certain bullet goes on sale like 123,139 scenar, 130 hybrid, or the eldm's, will they shoot just as good or should I just keep my eyes peeled for the hybrids at 40 cents per.
