What is everyone running for a load with the Berger 140gr Hybrid in a 6.5x47 using Varget?

I just started load development for my new 6.5x47 with 140gr Hybrids it seems to be happy between 36.8-37.3gr Varget

I'm gonna try 36.8 to 37.2 again in .1 increments .015 off the lands now that I have 100 rounds through the barrel

What kind of velocity are you seeing with a 26" barrel?

36.9g was giving me 2750 out of a 24" hawk hill until about 1800 rounds then had to bump up to 37.1g and am at 2740 or so now at 2025 rounds.
im going to run 130g berger hybrids in the next barrel between 2850 and 2900.

Why are you switching to the 130gr?

Why are you switching to the 130gr?

Mostly because when I started looking for bullets for the next barrel(I always have at least 2 chambered at a time)I got 2100 130g bergers from bullets.com for $29 bucks a 100 box all same lot...couldn’t pass that deal up then I found 2 500 boxes for $190 a box again couldn’t pass on that deal.

Plus after shooting over 2000 140g Berger hybrids through my current and first 47 barrel I think the 130g bullets are the perfect weight for the 47...I can run the 130s up to 2900 easily and not be running hard and 2950+ if I want to push them...I know because I shot a 100 of them when I first got this rifle running.

The only down side I can see is a little less barrel life but that’s still to be seen...I’m going to run my current barrel until it will not shoot anymore as Ive heard claims of 3600 rounds...I’m thinking more like 2500 maybe 3000...right now the throat looks like a dry lake bed and the fire cracking is about 8” into the barrel.

Chronographed some loads today 37.0 and 37.1gr Varget 26" Hawk Hill with 150 rounds on the barrel

Targets were @ 100 meters

First one is 37.0gr Varget Avg 2716fps ES 17 / SD 7.0

Second one is 37.1gr Varget Avg 2724fps ES17 / SD 6.5

Velocity is a bit low and ES/SD are high but it was Virgin brass atleast accuracy is there... it was only 9 degrees celcius out today and maybe barrel will speed up

H4350 will add an easy 60 fps to that and that's not even running it hot. I'd bet RL16 would work even better but I haven't tried that one to say for sure... my 6.5x47L barrel has been off my rifle since obtaining that powder.

Anywhere from 36.2-37.2 groups well in my 26” Hawk Hill but is best at 37.0-37.2 jumping .010. Speed around 2770 based on drop.

Yup mine is the same but velocity is just lower how many rounds do you have on your barrel?

I can't get H4350 here I'm fine with slower than H4350 I just hear a lot of guys running faster with the same barrel and load

i tried H4350 and could not get the velocity out of it that i get with varget but that would be more because my reamer only has .100 freebore.
my last barrel quit shooting at a match saturday so i swapped barrel saturday afternoon and went out sunday and shot the new barrel.

new lapua,varget,fed205m,130g berger hybrids .020 off the lands...below is after 13 rounds of break in...i know i know but im one of the ones that believe that a little break in to clean up the throat is a good thing.

#1-#7 37.9
#2-#8 38.1
#3-#9 38.3
#4-#10 38.5
#5-#11 38.7
#6-#12 38.9

first is #5 second is #12...i shot this off a bench and was only my 3rd time shooting off a bench

I have 168 rounds on this barrel. I did have to retune my load around the 100-120 mark to get it back to shooting in the .1s and .2s again. Its a Jon Beanland build with a .170 throat.

i shot a long range varmint silhouette yesterday with the 38.9g varget 130g berger hybrid load...i shot a 30 outta 40 possible...velocity started at 2930 and ended at 2960...124 rounds so im pretty sure the barrel is done speeding up...there is no doubt when the 130 hits the coyote at 850yds.

im pretty happy considering i had no data..new barrel(only 50 rounds through it)and contour..new bullet...this will be my combo in the 47 from now on.

I have to do more tests but my 130 hybrids with Varget are running about 2871fps. Shoots 1/2 MOA ar 100. Haven’t shot past as I only loaded up 5 rounds.
