I’m new to reloading for Precision rifle. I’ve been reloading for about 6 years for my varmint rigs. what’s the most important thing i need to do to get that consistent low SD and get the most horsepower i can get. What’s important and what’s just unnecessary or a waste of time?

Yeah start on some of the stickies. Guys put a lot of time into those posts. I advocate for simplicity myself, having tried everything outside of neck turning. Some of the steps are simply very low yield. But go to the reloading section and click the stickies

10-4 i appreciate it

There is no difference between loading the X47 and loading for your varmint rigs. It’s one of the sweetest LR cartridges out there. Buy brass, pick a suitable bullet, buy varget, load and shoot. Head to the reloading depot and check out some of the recipes.

"How to load precision ammo" could be the topic of a Ph.D thesis. There are many ways to skin this cat and much disagreement about the "best" way to reload. The tutorials on here are a nice starting point, but I agree with mijp5 that many of the steps are low yield. Experiment and do what works for you. Having the right tools and making precise, repeatable measurements is 90% of the battle. Instead of trusting a single measurement, make many measurements and then use the mean of your distribution. Tools like comparators are inexpensive and critical for making length measurements. Annealing is also a critical component to reducing ES. Luckily when you use Lapua brass you can skip many of the brass prep steps. I don't do anything to Lapua brass except size, load, shoot, anneal, and repeat.

Lots of info out there as noted by others. On the other hand this one keeps popping up on the board so maybe a few definitions could help. Hate to be so Regimental but its kind of sad that American shooters can't tell the difference between these two-

Regiment - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regiment

Regimen - https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/regimen

Or maybe its the crappy auto correct that brings us so many very funny new phrases, words and conundrums.

On topic, I've found the 6.5X47 Lapua to be one of the least sensitive and easiest cartridges to load for. There are a wide range of powders, bullets, seating depths, primers and loading styles that seem to work very well. Unlike some types I've loaded for I've found this one to be more shooting and less chasing. Use any of the advice found in the stickies and you'll be looking good.
