Either have any significant advantage at range or in the field?

If they overlap basically on game, then the 7mm is just adding recoil correct? Looking at 'field/terminal performance' more than 'Foot pound stats'....impact velocity and bullet choice are key I realize. Well, foremost - shot placement....but that's the shooters job. I am guessing the 47 may be as good a hunting round as the 7/08 and fly about as flat and drift about as much but not run alot of numbers.

708 shooters - is WW brass as good as any? Barrel life? What bullet would be your choice in each on deer/hogs and perhaps elk?

Thanks.

If we're talking strictly hunting, I always thought payload and diameter were the big players, thus giving the 7mm a distinct advantage.

Taylor KO factor

* kinetic energy: favors high velocity, lower mass bullets (no diameter dependence)
* momentum: favors moderate velocity, moderate mass bullets (no diameter dependence)
* TKOF: favors large diameter, moderate velocity, heavy bullets
* Thorniley Stopping Power: favors moderate diameter, moderate velocity, moderate mass bullets

The 7mm-08 will have more stopping power, but for medium sized game the 6x47 will have enough. If you were going after larger game, say 400 lbs. on up, I think the 7mm would be much better. For deer or pig sized game, the 6x47 should have plenty.
