i finally received my 6.5x47 barrel from RG (fedex had lost it) and took some ogive/coal measurements. The plan is to play with Varget and H4350 and maybe 2KMR and 140ELD/139 Scenars. I measured Ogive and COAL for 5 bullets and took the average.

139 Scenar
Ogive ave - 2.144
COAL ave - 2.692

140ELD
Ogive ave - 2.119
COAL ave - 2.748

ELD measured what I expected but I'm little surprised at 139 Scenars. At lands the COAL is less than 2.7". Does this sound normal ? What COAL do you guys usually get for the 139 Scenars?

I got a Brux barrel chambered in 6.5x47 Lapua from Devin at Sin Arms. To get some brass I ordered some factory Lapua 139 Scenar ammo. I was shocked to not be able to chamber the factory ammo. I ended up seating the bullets approximately 50 thousandths deeper just so I could shoot them (let's not talk about if that was smart or not). Then I started loading 140 grain Berger Hybrids and got a COAL of 2.749" to the lands, which is right where you are with your 140 ELDs. Just looking at your numbers you have a difference in COAL of 56 thousandths between the Scenars and ELDs. So that is very similar to my experience. Hope that makes you feel a little better.

Thanks that helps. My barrel is Bartlein and per RG it works with anything from 123 to 140. I didn't ask for the barrel to be chambered for any specific bullet. The 140gr Berger HybridsI measured 2.119/ogive and 2.801/COAL.
It's interesting what happened with factory ammo and your barrel. I would love to try some factory Lapua 139s too but it's too much of a hassle to order ammo online from Kali and of course nobody around me carries 6.5x47 in stores.

Thanks. Ya the difference is not much. One thing I forgot o mention is that I'm using a 6.5x47L modified case I got from brunos and not a case that has been fired in my rifle. I remember that when I compared a modified hornady 260 and a 260 case that was fired in my 260 there was a difference of about 0.010" - 0.012".
