I am looking for help building up a load for 6.5x47L it is for a new GAP build with 26 Barrel..I have the following components

New Lapua brass
Varget
CCI 400 and Fed 205 primers
Berger 130 VLD
Lapua 123 Scenar

I have seen from previous post using match primers..is that something I need to get?

Thanks for any help..Mike

Re: 6.5x47L starting off with Varget

I started my 6.5X47 load work up with RL-15 at 33.5 grains and went up to 37.3 grains but with some pressure sign.

Currently running a middle node around 35.5 grains.

Re: 6.5x47L starting off with Varget

I am using a low node with 34.8 g Varget with 130 g Bergers in F-class matches with good results. The MV is 2,750 fps which is not the fastest but it is extremely accurate. My best accuracy load with RL 15 and the same bullet is 35.4 g RL 15, once again deadly accurate with a MV of 2,770 fps.

Re: 6.5x47L starting off with Varget

I am getting 2940 fps with a 26", 8 twist Spencer barrel. Very good and consistent groups also.
Recipe: Lapua brass, Wolf SMR primer, 37.5 gr. Varget, 130 Berger VLD, .009 jam.
I ran the OCW test with both RL-15 and Varget 37.3 to 37.5 was the most consistent range with both powders in my setup. Velocity was similar but accuracy was better with Varget.
Hope this helps and good shooting.
