I have more 6mm bullets than I really need, including some 115s I can't shoot out of my Dasher, and about 800 pieces of Hornady and Prime 6.5 Creedmoor brass that I don't use after buying Alpha brass, so I figure why not spend even more money and have a 6 Creed barrel spun for my Bighorn TL3. If I remember correctly, all I need to do is neck down the 6.5 brass to 6mm with a bushing in my Redding Type S FL 6.5 Creedmoor die, right? Once the brass is necked down, I can continue to resize my brass with the 6.5 Creedmoor dies I already have, as long as I leave the appropriate bushing in? Do I need a caliber specific seating die, or will the 6.5 seating die work fine? Thanks in advance, all!

Edit: Just to be clear, I have 6.5 Creedmoor brass and 6.5 Creedmoor dies. I want to make sure all I have to do make 6 Creedmoor brass is neck down my 6.5 Creedmoor brass by dropping in a bushing and can I continue to resize the 6 Creedmoor brass using my 6.5 Creedmoor die as long as I have the bushing in. I also want to know if my 6.5 Creedmoor seating die will work with 6mm bullets, or am I better off buying a 6 Creed seating die

I think the seating die might not give and even and repeatable contact surface for the smaller bullets. I may he wrong. You might be able to order just the stem and swap it out?

I believe you want to use a FL die that does not use a bushing. I don't think the bushing resizes the entire neck, at least my Redding one doesn’t appear too. (appears to only do the top 2/3s of the neck.) I’m sure someone will chime in soon

I can get the bushing to cover most of the neck on my die. It'll stop a slight bit above the shoulder junction, so as long as I can continue using the same dies, I might pick up another barrel, but i'm waiting on some others to respond who have converted their 6.5 brass to 6

I ran once fired Prime 6.5 (Norma) through a 6mm Creedmoor FL die with neck custom ground to .270 as my first step.
Used a Mandrel to open up for K&M neck turning.
Used a bushing die to bring it down to the proper neck tension.

*I did not want to over work the brass. When I FL size now (5 firings first, Now every firing) it brings the ID to an almost perfect size. Just a kiss with the bushing die and .002 NT with spring back..

I would neck down with a non-bushing die then go back to your 6.5 die with the correct bushing. You can get a froster non-bushing for around $30. You can neck turn if you want I did some and didn’t see any real difference. And as far as the Hornady brass goes I have some with 12+ reloads on them.

Reviving an old post but I wanted to see how using 6.5mm CM dies with 6mm CM bushings worked to make 6mm CM brass. I have a set of whidden FL bushing dies in 6.5 CM and already have 6 CM brass. Would save me some money if I could just drop in a .269 bushing and use the 6.5CM dies to reload for 6CM.
