I was fucking around with you about the water supply @Maggot i know thier border with Arizona is right in the middle of the Colorado river and assume that is were the vast majority comes from.
I have worked with a few people over the years that grew up there that had the same gripe that most of the rain water and a good bit of the snow melt just flow out to sea instead of being captured and utilized.
Not sure how accurate that is but seems about right for california.

the easiest way to clean up the mess in Ca think of it as the big flush

You’d actually be fucked and speaking Chinese and eating bugs, on a good day that is.

Or do you think the brain trust in Mar-a-largo will step up and fill in the void of the loss of one of Earth’s biggest economies?

CA is home to crazy politics but also a massive enabler for the rest of the country. Besides, the Bay Area is where Bender gets to sample a smorgasbord of foreign manmeat. Have a care for him!
Go back to your manchester girls games, commie.

Well!!! I consider myself properly fucked with. 🙃

A lot of the southern parts take from the Colorado, but its damn near dry in places. Most of the rest gets water from the mountains. The west coast of the coast range goes right to the Pacific but the rest, and t Sierras, goes into the northern valleys. They have an amazing aqueduct system. Every time I go by one I want to go for a swim.

I read a bit about water sources within the state after posting that just to make sure i wasnt ass backwards.
It seems that they have severly depleted the aquifer systems they have and im sure that takes years to replenish.
Also watched a documentary last year about a huge lake they created in the southen part of the state with diverted water from the colorado river but cant remember the name at the moment.
Now it is a huge ecological and health disaster and might be part of the reason they havent made more efforts to create more resivoirs to catch and utilize more of the runoff, that and eco terrorist and excessive regulations.

I had to look it up it is the Salton Sea, it was a paradise in the desert now its a disaster.

I should have said 'aqueduct' rather than aquafer. My bad.

My map didnt pritn before, but look at the Sierras. About every 50 miles a good sized river flowing east. THe Merced flows straight out of Yosemite. THey harness all that and use the aqueduct system to move it around.

And the interesting part of the story is not that the water flow is plate lube.

It’s That the water flowing out is NOT lubricating the plates. So they are going to hang up and release suddenly. Plates thst subduct smoothly do not cause 9-scale earthquakes. They just glide along slowly.

The plates that hang up for a few years…
Trouble brewing! When they go all At once… you get flattened space needles and drowned homeless Pelosi-hammerers.

With all the hubub about gas stoves, no one seems to be seeing the bigger picture. Gas furnaces for houses won't be far behind.

And, where is all of the extra electricity going to come from ? I think they've torn down more nuke plants than they've built in the last 30 years.....

Was in SC last week. Talking with my niece's husband (number two guy with local power company) and he was explaining what it would take to make one major truck stop handle EV trucks. I can't recall the numbers, but a single power plant would not be enough. He said to expect California style black/brown-outs in the not too distant future. Then we talked about whole house generators.

I rode out the Nisqually quake in "Sodo" (Seattle) in 2003. Worst one I had ever been in, including California quakes. On the second floor/dance floor of a concrete precast/tilt up warehouse. Was in the epicenter, couldn't have been in a worse place when it happened. The floor moved 3 feet, side to side. If you were standing up, it didn't take long before you were on the floor on all fours.

People forget about the "Ring of Fire". It extends from the bottom tip of South America, up through Central/North America and back down through Asia. It belches all the time. The PNW is nothing special and isn't necessarily "the next to go". Plenty of other candidates out there.

I was just east of epicenter for the Joshua Tree back in the (early 90's?). It hit early morning. I remember half waking up and the bed was undulating like a gentle wave. Wondered 'WTF' and then realized "Earthquake, get outside". Before I could move it went from gentle wave to violent 3 foot bounces, all you could do was hold on. When I got to San Diego I looked all over until I found a one story frame motel, figured I could ush some 2x4's away but not tons of concrete.

California rises as the Pacific plate is forced under the North American plate.

Sorry. It’s here to stay.

This might go big enough to cause Jellystone to spring a leak. That could be funner.

So you're saying it's something akin to a tectonic squirt?

In a serious light, many people treat urban/leftist oriented cities that dominate the state as all of the state.

Most food grown in California is grown east of the coast range. Most leftist shit is grown West of the coast range. Same thing with New York, Illinois. Big cities totally filled with lefty trash dominate large basically rural states that are populated by right thinking, intelligent, decent people.

Going back to my belief, we should cut these large cities loose, let them become either semi autonomous or fully autonomous and they can have their crime infested, filth covered utopias.

Yup! As well they don't make movies like that anymore.

Would be a shame if San Francisco and LA were consumed by massive tsunamis, yea total shame. Magically however I think the roof top Koreans would survive, rightfully so.

So without further ado! The official sink CA into the pacific video.

umm I thought those regions were slip faults, where costal sections like LA and the Serria Nevada Mts were progressing North West. The convergent sects are up in Washington, Canada and Central America, but are identified as the Juan de fuca and the coco plate. They are convergent, and still being pushed under, while the pacific and American an slip.

All I knew and all I believed
Are crumbling images
That no longer comfort me
I scramble to reach higher ground
Some order and sanity
Or something to comfort me

… So I take what is mine, and hold what is mine
Suffocate what is mine, and bury what's mine
Soon the water will come
And claim what is mine
I must leave it behind
And climb to a new place now

… This ground is not the rock I thought it to be

… Thought I was high
Thought I was free
I thought I was there
Divine destiny

… I was wrong

This changes everything

… The water is rising up on me
Thought the sun would come deliver me
But the truth has come to punish me instead

… The ground is breaking down right under me
Cleanse and purge me
In the water

Aye, says here the giant crack is lubing up the fault, she may be getting ready to bust a tectonic move in the PNW, article says could cause a 9.0, but I think that estimate is low. My hunch is a solid 12.0, maybe a 12.5!!!

i had read that cascadia slips every ~249 years on average and it as been ~325 years (around 1700) since the last big one.
(based on indigenous history and a tsunami in japan).
