So is it thinner or thicker???
Thicker would make more sense to me</div></div>
The hunting bullet has a thinner jacket and slightly different shape than the target bullet. The hunting bullet has a G1 bc of 0.532 and the target bullet a G1 of 0.493 </div></div>
The hunting bullet has a thinner jacket. The target bullet has a thicker jacket as it is not designed for expansion. Both the 105 hunting (#24528) and target (#24429) VLDs have a BC of .532. The 105 target BTHP (#24428) has a BC of .493. Same thing applied all of the 6mm and 6.5mm target and hunting VLDs. So long as they are the VLDs they are the going to shoot the same.
When my local supplier is in between orders and I have to use the target VLDs (I prefer the Hunting in case I run across a fox, coyote, trespasser...uh I mean crow, etc.) I use the exact same data as they also have the same sectional density of .254 in addition to the same outside dimensions. I have run around 2200 of them with about a 30/70 mix and can tell you for sure.
If still not sure contact Bryan Litz a Berger and he can verify it for you. They have a current PDF for all of their bullets you can download on the site that gives you every piece of info you will need for figuring your dope correctly, Boat tail length for figuring seating depth, the whole 9.
Hope this helps. Also, for those of you that aren't familiar with them, check out the OCW load development method and when you find the center of the shared POI, adjust your seating depth in and out with the VLDs. I see a few guys shooting out there that could cut there groups in half or better by adjusting in and out a small bit. Berger's site has a good explanation on how to hone in on the sweet spot.
In my daughters 6XC improved, the 105 wants a 20thou jump or 10thou jam and my wifes 6xc improved it wants kissing or 40 thou jump. Each rifle is slightly different.
Hope this helps some.
