Wanting to build a 6mm creedmoor with either a 16.5in or 18in barrel also wanting to shoot hornady 75 or 87 grain v max has anyone done this before ? Also this will have a silencer attached most of its life. Any input would be great

I can't find much information as to if anyone built a rifle that short in that caliber if they had any luck with it

I have an 18" on my Sig cross. By "luck" what are you referring to. It shoots well, and was used to drop a mule deer by my son a few weeks ago, albeit with a 108 grain bullet.

Check the 16-18” shorty rifle thread. You might find one.

Just a 19" barrel cut up. I'll have data in a few weeks. Reviewing the shorty thread and other threads, 2850-2900 with 110+ gr seems quite possible. Should be a handy package

Rem 700P cut to 18" w/ DeadAir Sandman shoots Hornady 75gr VMax very well for pigs & coyotes out to abt 300yds with some loss of velocity, but the shortened length make it much more manageable in/out of stands.

Had a 16.5 6creed, 105 hunting vld@2750. Worked well on some pest tag does out to 796yd. My 2 20" 6creeds are pushing 105hybrids at 2920ish.

Took mine deer hunting this year. Just grabbed a box of factory Hornady 87 Vmax 3.1 MIL at 600yds and 108 ELDM 3.3 at 600yds. To date its got 84 rounds through it, but my sister (whos never shot before) had no problem smashing a 6" plate at 600.

18" Preferred Barrel Blank on my TL3 in a Cadex. I could maybe snip another 1/2" off and make it fit, but it carries really really nice.
I'm planning to gas up 115 Dtac and 112 Match Burners for matches next spring/summer.

Factory 108s were just estimated at 2900 so I have no doubt 2950-3000 will can be done with hand loads.

I'm sending a 18" Bartlein carbon to Deep South Tactical to spin up a 6 CM prefit for my Zeus. Should be an awesome combo.

I have a 18" brux 6 creedmoor. Loaded in Peterson brass gives me 2950 with 108 eldm.

I also run a 21.5" brux. Loading 38.6 gr H4350 shooting 105 hybrid at 2830 and it shoots phenomenally.

I actually prefer the 21.5" barrel. It's not bad at all with a suppressor.

I run a 16.5 proof carbon barrel, powder is going toake it sing. I use H4895 and am running 65 vmaxes at 3500fps flat. It shoots right with my 22 creed and it's pushing 60s at 3700fps.

I went this route so that I'm roughly 1 mil low at 400 yds with a 200yd zero. (I run thermal for coyotes so it's easy this way).

You may get more speed with rl26
I get 3212 out of a 20” 243 Ackley with 105’s with a can on.
I’m getting 2689 on a new 16” 6.5 creed with 147’s should speed up once barrel breaks in as well.

I'm using a Manners MCS-CS2 because I wanted a stock that would collapse down far enough to use my Reap 35-2 Thermal. Most other stocks that collapse that far use an AR15 buffer tube interface which I like on my AR's, I hate the look of on a bolt action. If not for thermal use, I've used the KRG Whisky 3 which is fantastic.

Got my barrel back, cut to 19". I have some new bullets from fort Scott munitions I am trying out. 90gr solid coppers. Seem to be working real well. Shot them to 1k at 6k air density.

The comparison photo is a 112gr MB, 90GR FSM, and 115gr DTAC.

Settled at 3094 once the barrel sped up a bit at 41.2gr H4350.

Seems like some solid performance.

I built a 16" 6creed for my boy. Its a 1:7.5 twist with a CarbonSix barrel. Haven't shot it yet, but we should get some range time on it very soon. Very excited to test it out with 95+gr bullets.

I have an 18" Fieldcraft in 6CM, but I have nothing to compare it to, I've never owned a longer one. Mostly shoot Berger 115 VLD H and Barnes 95gr(?) LRX. The most similar thing I own is a .243, but that's only 20" itself, so not much different. :) Doesn't help at all, but my photo host is open... lol

Not exactly what the OP was looking for but I have a 20" osprey on 108 berger bt running 2925ish & its fresh / still speeding up.

I’ve got a 16.5” 6CM shop rifle. I’ve only shot factory Hornady 108ELDM ammo. It’s at 2730 fps vs 3040 in my 27” barrel.

Forgot about this thread until it popped up again. Deep South did a great job chambering my Bartlein. Shoots very well and currently using it for thermal hunts. Hornady factory 108 match ammo is clocking just shy of 2800 out of my 18” barrel.

My 18" 6 creed shoots 108s in the 2740-2800 range. Have no desire to shoot varmint bullets with it so cant help you there. No idea why what your looking for wouldn't work fine.
