6mm fat rat

I used the search and found a few posts on this cartridge, but not a lot of info. Wondering if anyone here has or shot one thinking of building one for hunting and target shooting. I would like to use a 22 inch barrel and wondering if anyone knows what the velocities for it would be shooting 105 Berger vld's. Also any other info would be great.

Check out 6mmAR.com. The 6mm Turbo 40 is virtually identical to the FAT Rat and there is load data on that site.

I have checked out a few different web sites and found some load data sounds easy to load and fire form. My major concern is if a 22" barrel is to short. I would like to use it for target shooting out too a 1000 yards so I would like the velocity above 2700 and would like to get 2800 with a Berger 105, but that might be pushing it.

You need a barrel about 27 inches long

For what it's worth, I'm running a 87gr @ 3030fps out of a 22" saturn barrel.

Yeah I thought maybe I would need a 26 or 27 inch barrel. Guess I will have to decide on aether I want light and handy or velocity.

Alternatively, look at an AR10/LR308 in either 6mm Creedmoor or 6XC. Both these have the ability to accurately push the 115 gr DTAC bullet at speeds north of 2900 fps.
