The club I go to recently started letting people who are certified shoot after and before hours with a gate card. I got there at just before sunrise this morning to beat the wind. I had to shoot at 100yards -200yards until an RO showed up at opening time. There was minimal wind until it started raining an hour or so later then there was none. I shoot my best targets in the rain, go figure. This is my first 200 yard 6x5 with Ammo from the Lapua test center.

From a cold clean barrel I started shooting at 100 yards, from left to right. It started raining about the time I started the second target, by the third it’s as coming down pretty good. The middle target shot with tested Center X bests my previous best 6x5 @100yards. The third target a 8x5 bests that. It was shot in moderate to heavy rain with absolutely no wind. I got a few bricks of this SK Standard with a heads up from another member here. It was the oldest, dustiest, boxes falling apart, corners dented Ammo I’ve ever received. This 452 apparently loves it.

I have a new entry as well. I need to get a better suited scope for this one and adjust the trigger a little more. I’m sure it’ll do a little better. Sorry to drop all this on you at once Jbell. Thanks for keeping this thing going.

My only PB I didn’t beat was at 50 yards. I tried three times and came close, but no cigar. I have a JP benchrest adapter on the way for the narrow rounded for end of the MDT chassis. Look at the last shot on the bottom right last target. I almost had the perfect group. There was a Martini .460 next to me going off which really wasn’t that bad, not nearly as bad as an AR SBR, but it was bad timing. I was half way through the last pull when it moved my reticle and I pulled the shot. Oh well maybe it’s for the best. I used to love to bass fish until I caught a big six or seven pounder then I realized I would never catch another one that big.

Got a few boxes of Eley Tenex 3 different lots to try in the B14R.
Shot one 6x5 of each and then shot a second 6x5 with the best lot prone.

100 yards
15x magnification
78 degrees and almost no wind 0-1.5 from 9 o'clock.

I tried different targets and didn't like them. Oddball center ring size of .710 od of thick Black ring. Going back to the Snipershide target that has the small diamond below & just dial up .2 mil.

Next time I get out I'll try the good Tenex lot @50 yards. My old PB there was pretty sad (Norma Tac if I remember correctly).

So far the B14R likes SK long range match & this Eley Tenex the best @100 yards.

I set the home made Tuner/dampener at 100 playing around with SK Match & Long range match. Still need to try it at 200 to see if it's even doing anything. I'm not convinced the in/out adjustment of the tuner is doing much with the heavy profile 18" barrel? I think the dampener might be helping a little.

Next time out I'm going to shoot a 100y 6x5 with the thread protector vs tuner/dampener & see what happens.

Questions for the brain trust here.

1. Does an actual front rest with a stiff rear bag like a protector make much difference? Verses a Cyke pod & squeeze bag.
2. The Eley Tenex seams to be more oriented towards 50m, so does the flat nose have a negative impact @ 100y +?

This might not count, but I wanted to give it a go at 300 yards.
With my new scope I was able to reach it just dialing, no holdover. I shot one with SK Long Range too, but it was a hair bigger. I was able to hit an 8” plate at will, but the plate barely moved at all.

I finally got my Vudoo 360 in and brought it out to sight in and get a few rounds down the barrel.

Decided to shoot a few 5X6 targets.

It shot well, definitely have to learn the new gun.

I got home and started adding up my scores and realized that this is a 6X5 not a 5X6. Luckily there was a target that I had shot all 6 bulls with 6 shots each, so a 6X6.

Maybe I’ll get it right next time.

Got a bit better today at 50, there is some accuracy in this rifle. I’ll keep working on it and shrink those groups down. 9 mph with 15mph gusts switching from 4-8 o clock.

Here is the 100y attempt. Did not adjust for the wind, held center in the Bull.

The last group I can’t see the 5th shot, so it either went in with the two tight ones or went wild right. Feel free to toss it, just wanted to submit as a personal benchmark.

Got to the range today and discovered that instead of bringing my range bag with targets, ear muffs, staples, tape etc..... I brought the other bag which looks about the same but has a Labradar in it. Was able to find a set of different sized stick on targets and a set of ear plugs in the car.

I was so impressed with Appalachians 300 yd 6x5 I gave it a fling today. Now I will say I had a little interference, but that's ok I'll do this again. The 1st pic shows target , the orange mark is 200 yds the teal color is target at 300 yds. The 2nd pic shows limbs I cut off today that had grown down interfering with my trajectory. I missed one limb I found leaves that had impacts. Pic 3 shows shot up leaves , pic 4 shows groups on 6x5 everything was under 4.45" except you got it group 2 and 4 these bullets passed through the leaves! 😁 best group was 1.71 with .54 moa group avg. Was 4.553 moa was 1.45 avg. Not to shabby for a twist faster then a 16 !

This rifle combo makes it alittle easier, I only had to float 1-2 " right today some shots for wind it was 2-3 mph at 5.30 steady . I was up 42.0 MOA ,at my normal dope I was 2.0" high ammo fps was running alittle faster at 94deg air temp.
Thanks!

Hey guys. Finally did another 6x5 but used my CZ457 17HMR Varmint. Shot at 50M with CCI 17gr VNT ammo at 2730fps. The single flyers are me. Otherwise its quite a nice lil rig. I was shooting off my Boscabel Weapon Systems Bel-Loc Bipod. Next time may swap back to my pack. See how I go.

Cheers Guys.

After a lot of trying I bested my previous PB. It always happens when I wouldn’t expect it to. Today for instance was pretty windy. I was going to check my zero after changing back into the chassis and the first shots felt good so I just let her roll. If I counted all eight groups it would be a .266 average, but I’m going with the last six. I don’t know if I’ll ever top this, but I’m going to try.

This is a pic of Four of my six CZ’s I took today. Every time I end up not shooting the others. Only accurate rifles are interesting. Today I did shoot the Trainer a little.
I’m probably going to sell all my CZ’s except for the 452 and Trainer. I’m going to swing by Bud’s tomorrow and see if the T1X their website says is there is there.

I gave it another go at 300 yards, but no dice. I didn’t beat my PB. This is the first time SK Long Range ever bested Center X in this rifle. I’m pretty sure it was because the wind was picking up on the Center X. That headwind made for some low shots. I think I know what kind of target would be best now. I need something with a more prominent horizontal bar. I’m thinking about finally buying a chronograph. The next calm Sunday morning I’ll give it another go.

Going to post my first 200 yard 6x5. Not that great, but I can work on it. The wind was a bit tricky; variable between about 2mph and 8mph but alternating between a crosswind and a headwind. The first three groups were a pretty spread out horizontally, the second lot of 3 groups a bit tighter.

I put two stick on shoot-n-see targets on a single sheet of cardboard as that's what I had; hope its ok. Two of the rounds on the second group went just off the shoot-n-see but were visible on the cardboard.

RWS seems to handle the subsonic transition as it comes out of the barrel just supersonic. It must be designed to handle the subsonic transition as it is sold as 100 yard/metre supersonic match ammo and so will always go subsonic within that distance.

This gun puts alot of bullets in the same place I'm gonna take a chamber impression to see what it looks like.

I tried to beat the sun up this morning, but barely missed it which was a good thing because it was super foggy when I started shooting. I now know that I need a bigger aiming point with more contrast for the 300 especially this morning. I couldn’t set my parallax at first because the fog made everything blurry. I keep forgetting I have illumination on the Cronus. That might have helped. I’ve never turned it on.

This is the second time that SK Long Range has out performed Center X. That’s not the norm

I messed up and shot two groups on the wrong cardboard after an adjustment. I drove down to check and marked them so I would know for sure.

The measurements aren’t perfect because my calipers aren’t that big, but unless the 300 yard 6x5 picks up it doesn’t matter I guess.

The Center X averaged 7.8”. The SK Long Range averaged 7.125” which barely beats my best.

Appalachian, I have both of your rifles updated. I have always like the looks of the MTR stock.
Did you get my kimber in on 50 yds ?
I ran it at 200 yesterday it sucked. Literally, I went back through it torking the action and the best ammo was SKHV ? At 200, but it's not my Rim X. The short barrel and light weight gun floats around quite abit.

I worked on the Kimber 82c for about 3 hours today changed striker springs 3 times re-torked action I cant count. This gun has a unique desire for fast ammo , it has a 3/8" deep double recessed crown shoots better hot and doesn't like ammo below 1235 fps at 200 yds.
My 200 yd 5x6 avg. Was 1.956 MOA avg. .935 best group was 1.29 moa was .620
I posted bare target and measured target. This is the best I believe this gun can do. Ammo was SKHV

That’s some pretty impressive vertical! What ammo were you using if you done mind?
J this Kimber has a 22" shilen barrel with a 16" twist it shoots like a Dwag With slower match ammo. Has super tight chamber , to get the required accuracy at long range I had to bump it up to SKHV 1224 fps up works in this gun well. The swapping wind KILLED! me today a head cold didnt help I know it will do 1.25 MOA on a calm day, I'm gonna try Veloiciter in it to it shoots very well in my CZ453 at long range

Went out today, full sun and peaked at 30 Celsius, but I had the range to myself for most of my session.

I'm pleased as it is a good improvement over my first 200 yard 6x5 and I'm also kicking myself as I forgot to bring my front and rear bag, so I had to shoot this using a lumpy backpack for the front and a rolled up blanket which I found in the car for the rear. Group is just over 1 MoA; I'm pretty sure I could have got it below 1.0 if I'd not forgotten to bring my shooting bags with me.

I'm liking the RWS R100, it's the ammo my rifle likes the most. Comes out of the muzzle just supersonic but seems to do a great job of being stable as it goes subsonic.
