Ok guys, I have a 700 police in 223, I was looking at putting it in a Mcmillan A5 stock, when I was talking to them, they asked about bottom metal, well I was at a loss, instead of ordering it with the standard hennaed floor plate, I thinking of a box mag. so the question, will HS pro units work with Mcmillan stocks? also, if I do it in 223, and in a few years I want to rebarrel to 308 or 6 x 47 can I still use the same bottom metal? is the HS a good unit to be looking at? Let me know please

Short answer, most 223 box mags wont allow a 308 round or something like that to fit in the box due to the plate in the box mag. I would also look at something else besides the HSP mag system. Their shit gets spensive real quick with buying extra mags and such. If you are dead set on a box mag, id look to the Seekins or Badger M5 with AICS 223 mags (39.00 by the way) for a mag and if down the road you decide to open up the bolt face and go 308 or 6x47 all you will have to do is get an AICS mag for the 308 and rock on.

If you call McMillan they will tell you whether or not they inlet for that particular bottom metal. As for your other questions, I will leave them to the folks that have experience with that unit.

If the AICS .223 mags fit the same magwell as the .308 mags than Surgeons bottom metal is an excellent option as well.
