I wouldn't sweat it just yet. I've had several Remington's that took 40-50 rounds to start shooting really tight groups. I always figured the rifling was just a little rough from the factory and needed some rounds down it to smooth out the burrs.

Re: 700PSS accuracy is this good as it gets

SST's are good bullets but they are hunting bullets. As in everything else, some rifles do not care for them.

Try some A MAX, SMKs, Hornady match, custom competition or the like.

The Hornady Match and Noslers tend to be a little cheaper and normally shoot very well.

If you really want to put a smile on your face at the 100 yard line, load up some
168 Sierra Matchking
44.7 grains of Varget
RP brass
CCI standard primer
loaded to 2.810 COAL
If you still have problems get a Timney 510 drop in trigger.

Use better bullets. I have an SPS-V which has the same barrel as the PSS. Every single person i shoot with that has a 700 or variant in .308 uses this load and it usually shoots half minute or less depending on the rifle and shooter.

175 Sierra Match King
44 grains of Varget
CCI BR2 or Federal GMM
Seated to 2.820

What he said, times 3....

I have one now, have had 3 700P's, all have shot 1/2 MOA'ish with FGMM.

Re: 700PSS accuracy is this good as it gets

Don't be impatient, keep shooting the gun, work on some different loads. Those were some fairly decent groups for the rifles first. Also don't put full blame on the gun, it could be you, get used to the rifle, shoot it a bunch and the groups should tighten up.

Re: 700PSS accuracy is this good as it gets

Im going for some SMKs and give it a try. I did put a Timmney trigger on it.

I figured it was the loose nut behind the trigger.

Re: 700PSS accuracy is this good as it gets

3 words tubb final finish. cant really hold a factory barrel to the glass slick standards of kriegers or any of the other top barrel builders. a friend of mine has really made me a believer on these.

Re: 700PSS accuracy is this good as it gets

Federal gold 175's got me at .7 @100. The best I ever got my Pss to was 1/2 with Nosler brass, 44.2 of reloder 15, and cci primers.

Re: 700PSS accuracy is this good as it gets

Sierra 175gr (seated at max COAL) and 44.2 gr of Varget is giving me 1/2" groups consistently and at times better. Only upgrade to the rifle is a Timney trigger set at 1.5 lbs. Btw a buddy of mine has the same with a Jewell bench rest trigger (set to 1 lb.) and it is outstanding. You most likely would have to tweak it slightly but this load gives me about 2670fps with Winchester brass and about 2730 with Lapua and performs well up to 1000yds.

Re: 700PSS accuracy is this good as it gets

What Tyler said.

People are too hung up on shooting 1 hole groups rather than measuring what they shot.

Those are sub-MOA groups. What's the problem?
