Hodgdons website has load data that seems to yield high velocities with 70gr bullet and h4895, But the projectile they have data on is a spire point bullet with a flat base. I can't find any data for the nosler rdf and h4895. Anyone have a starting point I could use? Would it be safe to start with 23gr that hodgdon says with the other projectile then work up slowly? Loading for 223 Remington by the way

I know that. Sorry poor punctuation. I was saying the data that hodgdon had was for a flat base spire point and didn't think it was safe to use that data for a BTHP. I wasn't saying that a rdf is a flat base spire point. That's why I was asking for info on here.

If you start low and work up I see no reason that 4895 would not work. I use it with 69 gr. Sierra in my NM AR with a bit more barrel length and in my Savage Mod 12 it is my go to powder but I have a longer barrel.
With the way availability is on powders and bullets sometimes you have to be creative.
My Savage loves the stuff and I will use nothing other in it.
Give it a run and let us know how it works out for you. Regards, FM

I've been hearing it's a very versatile powder. Thanks for the reply guys. I I'm going to start at around 22 and work up slowly I think
