hey i have a 7mm Remington mag that i was thinking about changeing it to a 300wm....my question is that alls i would have to do is to have a gunsmith rebarrel it right?

yep, that's about it. It would also be a good time for a blueprint, maybe an extended mag box depending on the OAL you intend to shoot.

He just wants to try a 300. I understand all the bennys of the 7MM Rem Mag, so I know why you say "WHY". Maybe you should tell him what you mean by answering "WHY".
BTW to the OP, if you do it, as already recommended, have the action worked and bed the rifled action. It will be money well spent. Best of luck on your project.
