Hey everyone I am in the process of making a 7mm wildcat. My current design shows a case capacity that is right in between a 284 Winchester and 7mm 08. So far things are going well, but I am having trouble determining neck length and pal cartridge length. My case now has an oal of 2 inches and a neck length of .250". It is designed for a standard 308 bolt head and my goal is to run it in an ar 10 so the long high BC bullets are protruding roughly .200 past the neck into the body. I was wondering if anyone would know if this can affect accuracy. I have heard on here many times that its not a good thing to stuff a bullet to far into a case but haven't found any real data that shows any negatives besides losing case capacity. My primary reason for this cartridge is to run 7mm high BC bullets through an ar 10 but I will also chamber it in my savage which feeds from alpha mags which can handle the longer rounds. So what do you think leave the cartridge as is and lose capacity with a shorter magazine or shorten it so the bullets sit in the case properly when loaded at 2.80 mag length.
