7mm08 AI Reloading

Loading 500rds of 708AI. Trimmed my cases, now bullet just drops into case. Matching case length of fire formed brass I have literally done this 1000 times. Where’d I go wrong? Time to FL resize??

You said it. I just walked through the process and I decapped by hand. Put them in the sonic cleaner. Trimmed them and then tumbled them. Totally skipped sizing. ?

I'm fairly certain we've all done something similar dude. I have a container of OOPS cartridges myself.

Would negate some of the fireformed case aspect of his post.

I do both, I prefer the collet die to a fl sizer until I need to bump the shoulder or body.

or use AI dies? unless you're shooting benchrest you want the little wiggle room of setting back the shoulder every time

well yeah...its a neck sizing die not a full length i'd hope it sizes less.

There are a lot of different ways to reload. I used to full length size. Now I am doing nk collet neck sizing. I may change later to neck bushings. Not sure what the future will bring. My methods work for me. And I haven't noticed any negative impact during a match or any other long range shooting.

If dude has a problem with his already fireformed brass, and the only issue is the neck needing to be sized, then the collet die may be the answer in his situation

That depends.
I use a lee collet because I’m lazy.
If your lazy less is awesome!

If you use a regular 7-08 Lee Collet, you may touch the shoulder, so be sure to measure or at least try a sized case in the rifle. I use a .010 to .020 spacer and have no problem. Redding makes a body die for the 7-08AI.

You should use pliers instead of a LCND to avoid touching the shoulder.
