I have a chance to trade my 10" blackout barrel w/carbine lenght system in for either a 8" 0r 10" barrel both W/pistol lenght system. I would like it as short as possible but worry the 8" will be alittle harder to tune.
My goal is to run.
125 gr Seirra unsupressed
200 ish Seirra unsupressed(till my can comes in)
I Plan on running a 3 position Gas Block standard /off/subs
Can I do this with a 8". It will be a side charger so I can run it shut for xtra quiet.I am getting rid of the carbine system because it will not run subs unsupressed .I guessI want to know if anybody runs subs unsupressed in a 8" and how

You'll definitely benefit from the pistol length gas vs carbine length. You're looking at 8 or 10 inch while I run a KAK 9. Wanted the Noveske 8.2 but could never find it in stock. I too am waiting (and waiting, and waiting...) for ATF to wake up and finish my stamp. Right now I am trying to get 190 grain and 208gr subs to cycle properly (unsuppressed) but so far a no go, as all the rounds short cycle. Kurt from KAK recommended I get a lighter buffer (I was running an H2) and my Spikes Tactical T1 (3oz) is on its way. I'll let you know how that works out.

I would recommend the 8" as I originally had a 10.5 but decided once my can goes on it I'm going to wish it was shorter. I doubt there will be any difference between the 8 and 10 since they both have pistol length gas. I am certainly not an expert in all things 300BLK but just sharing what I have learned so far

I am really thinking the 8" for all the reasons you stated. Guys on the 300blk forum claim they run subs out of 8" unsuppressed .Their approach is to use 1680 powder and tune the spring/buffer. I am going to also use a 3 position gas block so I can tune for unsuppressed then change the plate for suppressed. I can't wait for a stamp so it is a pistol build. Bad enough I have to wait for my stamp for my can(and round up funds)

I submitted for my sbr back in Feb through efile but with the fiasco of any gov't website it looks like some major delays :(. Not sure about 1680, let me know how that goes as I've been using H110.

Mine is a 10.2" Noveske upper with pistol length GB. Definitely go pistol length for either barrel you choose. It runs like a champ suppressed or none with 10.6 grains AA1680 and the 208 AMax.
If it were me I would do the same all over again.
