Seems like they should have given them a reward. If the pitbuull had bitten my daughter I would have killed it too....mabey not with a chainsaw but dead is dead.

FARMINGTON, N.M. – Jurors couldn't reach a verdict in the New Mexico trial of a man accused of decapitating a dog with a chain saw, so the judge in Farmington declared a mistrial.

Corey Bowen is the second man charged in the case.

The Farmington Daily Times reports the jury was evenly split in its final vote Tuesday about the 32-year-old man's guilt. He's still charged with fourth-degree felony extreme cruelty to animals.

Authorities say Bowen and another Farmington-area man, 32-year-old Teddy Sexton, cut off the pit bull's head with a chain saw when a kitchen knife didn't work.

Sexton pleaded guilty and is serving eight years in prison.

    Re: 8 Years?

8 and 10 years? Really, that's a shitty way to kill a dog but I find it hard to believe the dog wasn't dead from the kitchen knife already which I think one would generally say is a pretty humane and common way to kill something.

If some dog bit my kid... rusty spoon

    Re: 8 Years?

First i would not blam a animal for bitting anyone. My daughter was sniped in the face by a pit bull. the dog on several ocasions had let her know not to touch it by moving away snapping at her and so forth. She then got mad at the dog and hit it. I got upset with the owner for not having the dog moved to another room or out side while babbysitting my daughter. ultimatly it was his responceability to properly train his dog or remove the dog from the situation when the dog was un comfortable.

So, take the dog to the pound, KILL THE OWNER. Would still get the same amount of yrs in prison maby even less.

Thats scary becuse its true. Locally a guy stabbed a fireman to death....stabbed him 27 times, and got off with 6 months served because his father is a high power liar/lawyer from DC.

    Re: 8 Years?

Over the years I have had a few, probably more than a few, problems with dogs dumped at my farm and neighbor's dogs running free, prowling around and getting into trouble.
I have done my best to take care of the dogs and either get them into the local dog pound for adoption if I feel that is the way to go, as in, the dog is friendly and been dumped and needs a home:
Or there is the other way SSS.
I am on the outskirts of where developers sell these 10 acre plots and a stinking horse and then the people who buy those lots haven't a clue as to how much ground it takes to raise a pair or how much a horse eats.
"Oh Honey, we've got 10 acres and our horse so let's get a yearling to raise for beef."
Within a month or two, if the weather delivers lots of rain, usually not, there they are out there feeding {if they are good people] or watching their animals suffer as it takes a lot of acres to support these animals. !0 acres and a horse as well as the yearling are starving and then the ground gets to blowing as the animals have pulled up all the roots. Hell, they are starving.
Enough said, I am sure you see the problem, buy horse hay, buy feed for the yearling, buy food for the dogs and it goes on and on.
This being the Hide, if a shot needs taken, plan it out carefully, make the shot,[although you didn't want to but see no other alternative] and then go into the SSS mode.
I don't do it on beef or horses but that would probably be more humane.
Shoot, Shovel, Shut up. Say nothing and know nothing.
