    Hello all,
I am having a 1:8" .22-250 put together with the intention of shooting the 80 grain EDL-M. I'm having a hard time finding anyone with first hand experience with this combination and or load data. If any of have have played with the 80gr amax or ELD I would love to hear from you.
    Thanks

Check the data in the section below this one , you will have to go back a ways but on the old forum there was a short discussion on 75's , 77's and 80's in fast twist 22 250's

I am a bit jelous. I loved my 22-250 but got sick of the 14 twist and being limited to 52gr bullets. I thought several times about rebarreling to a fast twist but ended us selling it instead. I will keep and eye on this thread, please post follow ups on how your load development goes. I could definetly be talked back into another 22-250 with proof of concept. thanks

I shot 75 and 80 a maxes with 4000mr and 4831sc. The 4831sc would be my suggestion. The load I ran was about 35 or 35.5 grains of 4000mr to get 3174 out of an 80 a max. It seems like the top end of my load was around 3350-3400 fps. It was a 26" polygonal BHW remage barrel 1 in 7 twist. At about 700rds it started blowing up about 30% of the bullets that went down the barrel, and I pulled it. I had it out the other day and I could see big streaks of copper in front of the lead, and what looked like a nasty carbon ring. I JB pasted the bore clean. I am going to try the barrel again now, since I can't see a bunch of heat checking in the throat or anything. Maybe it has a few more rounds in it. When I was looking for info on loading a fast twist 22-250 I found mostly nothing, a few suggestions for 4350. I found some hodgadon load data for 70g bullets with h1000.

Think about custom throating too, For long bullets, I wanted a long lead.

I'm shooting the 75 amax in my 22-250 mausingfield with a shilen barrel. My load is 36.4 h4350. I'm pretty sure this put me at about 3100 fps.
    real happy with this load.
