What scope would you buy if you only had around $800 bucks to spend on one? 20 power or under but more than 9x. I will be using the scope on a 6.5 creedmoor for tactical type shooting. What about the sightron S3? Weaver tactical? what do you think? Lee

Re: $800 budget???

Is the $800.00 for scope, rings and base or just the scope?
Leupold Mark 2 6-18 X 40 with a 20 moa base and a good set
of rings should put you right around $800.00

that's a do all scope on a budget!!!

Re: $800 budget???

Weaver tactical may be good but I don't think they're out yet.I'll 2nd the Bushy 6500 tactical, I have the 4.5-30 and think it's really nice glass.Sharp reticle and solid feeling turrets, very repeatable.

Re: $800 budget???

have to admit, my next one will be the SH 3-18 ffp ior but that way out of the budget, 16x is a little high but i find with my 10x im always wanting more magnification so its a good compromise for me

Re: $800 budget???

I dont quite recall were i read this but I did read that the bushnell 6500 scopes were the number one returned scopes for this year. It was one of the big retailers stating this. I dont know if this was just there standard hunting scopes or what?? Just what i read, take it for what it is worth. I did look through a 4200 8x32 the other day at the range. A friend of mine had it on his savage 6.5x284, I was really impressed to say the least. the fella next to him had a march and i couldnt tell much difference is clarity if any. I dont now what power the march was set at or the 4200 for that matter. Lee

Re: $800 budget???

I think Scott from Liberty Optics said that the Bushnell 6500 was his number 2 scope returned this year. 6br has some good words to say about the Sightron III. They did a side by side with Nightforce and the SIII held its own.

I bought mine from "Great Scott" on the "Varmint Den" forum. He has good pricng and is a good guy to deal with. I think he is located in Paducah, KY. Tom.

Re: $800 budget???

I may have a new Leupold VX-III 8.25-25X50 LRT, Target Turrets, Varmint Hunters reticle I'm thinking about selling for around your price range. If your interested you can see it in the Rifles for sale section here under savage .223 1-7 twist, or I can send you pictures. It's a sweet scope but I'm wanting something more compact for my SPR.
