8208 question

Has anyone actually loaded 308 155 Scenars with this? I've loaded 45.5, thinking what Hodgdon says should be in the high 2800s fps. I ran this out to 800 and believe it to be way over the listed speed. I will chrono this Sunday but looking to see if anyone else has this data. I'm a whole mil high at 800 and thinking either my scope is jacked or the data on their website is way wrong.

Yes, pressure started at 45.4 in Lapua brass with that combo. I was using 44.9 grains and had 2900 FPS out of a 22" barrel.

How did you come up with this load you're using?

My Rock 26.5" gave 2930 with Sierra's 2156 bullet with 45.1 grains of 8208.

The load data off both IMR and Hodgdon gives 45.3 as max with FPS in the mid 28s, was trying to get closer to 2886, the same previously loaded with varget.

You'll probably want to start around 43.5 grains and work up. Starting above published max based on manufacturer velocities is not a good plan IMO.

I am running 44.6 under a 155 Scenar through a 26" Broughton 10 twist and am getting an average 2936 fps with no pressure signs. Load has been very accurate.
