Re: 8mm rem reloading

If it is a R700 in 8mm Rem Mag, then he needs to sell it to me, and go get something else that he can have you reload for him...

Seriously though, you rarely see this caliber in factory ammo. It's out there, but certainly not as abundant as 338WM or other big hitters. It is a great cartridge and more than capable to take most everything but the Big 6 in Africa, but just not that common. I have that gun on my bucket list, simply beacuae I own it's little brother, an 8x57 sporterized.

I tried getting my cousin's 8mm Rem Mag, even found 100 brass cases, then he backed out.

Re: 8mm rem reloading

I bought one when they came out, shot it allot. I necked down 375 H&H and it worked out ok, just a bit short. 300 H&H will work but they come out lots short. 300 Weatherby may work also. Mine was very accurate with just about anything, not much of a challenge there. I've read somewhere that the older 8mm mag brass is different from the new stuff. Just about any gunshow has a couple of boxes of the stuff. I got tired of my 8mm Mag and sold it.

I've still got 2 full boxes of 185 gr factory and dies, unfortunately I'm in Canada. If your ever in Winnipeg give me a shout. I have a 8x57 and have been thinking of pulling the 185 bullets for it. Seems like allot of hassle for 40 bullets and 1/2 pound of powder.
