Sometime ago, seem to recall over at BRC and/or 6BR there was a individual or business that did custom turning of cartridge case necks---send him the brass and neck wall thickness and he would prepare. If someone has that address, I would appreciate the link. Not for myself, for a friend who does commercial reloading.....thanks!

Re: A Benchrest shooter might know........

We can buy neck turners for about $50 that's plenty good for anything but a high-dollar BR specialty rig. My Forster hand turner, HOT-100, is as good as a SAAMI chambered rifle will ever need.

I strongly doubt any BR shooter would deligate that chore to anyone else, at any cost.

Thanks all. Don't even know the fellow that is doing commercial reloading that has a client wanting him to make him some 22BR cases just like the sample he provided.......myself, I do neck turn for the BR guns, many may consider this "work" but is a joy to me........xray9

+1. Ron preps lots of brass, and is a good guy to deal with. He's built a couple rifles and chambered several barrels for me. Brass prep is not cheap, but he knows what he's doing.

I can't stand turning necks anymore, so I lean away from "tight neck" chambers, or buy prepped brass from Ron....

Cheers,

Bill

Re: A Benchrest shooter might know........

Just buy a Neck Turner, I bought a 21st Century kit on a wim, I already had a tubing micrometer, and Imperial sizing wax, with in 30 minutes I was turning necks on Win 7-08 brass resized to 260, I had 20 pieces that showed more than .0015 difference in neck thickness, I turned all the cases to .0135, loaded them and my seated bullets runout went to zero, also surprising my was my ES/SD, SD of 1, and ES of 5, and two groups of 1/2 inch at 200, so anybody who says it's a waste of time I beg to differ, but it is a lot of work, and maybe so much that I don't think I'll be doing it on every case, but like all tools it's better have and not need than need and not have.
