Sharing an appreciation for handcrafted steel and a since past friend.
1st one was made by Bob White of Gilson Illinois. Bob was a retired tool and die maker and well know gunsmith and knife maker. He helped with several of my rifles starting out and was always a joy to talk with in his shop. A great guy with a wealth of knowledge and fantastic stories. I wish I could spend just one day in that now gone shop.
The second is made by Ben Voss of Galesburg IL. Ben was a friend of my mother in law and she was the one that gifted the second knife to me. I had asked Bob of he knew of Ben and Bob's reply was, "No one finishes a knife like Benny Voss."
I was pretty proud to show this one to Bob.
The hand written letter explained some of the intention and the craftsmanship that went into it.
