A glimpse of Civil War 2.0

Holy crap

How did I miss that one? At any rate, it is a good read.

Interesting thing is, I somehow got dragged into a ridiculous political debate between my mom and one of her high-falutin' democrat cousins. Started off about Donald Trump saying he's done more for America than any other president, and her response was to say that 1.) He admitted he said that to get a laugh out of the UN assholes, 2.) Job growth was better under Obama, 3.) GDP was better under Obama.

In one move we're talking about the first amendment and how she believes that Trump is infringing on that by encouraging violence against journalists, kicking journalists out of press briefings "that he doesn't like", and by discrediting the MSM.

Well, shit... Perfect time to bring up Covington and that article, dozens of statements by ordinary and prominent socialists effectively saying they want the 1A to be repealed, Fox news shut down because they're dumb Trump fans, and so on.

You know what they say.....

You can pick your friends but not your relatives. I wouldn't have much to do with that cousin of your Mom's any longer. Will do nothing but raise your BP or maybe worse.

Eh, we'll see where it goes. She's a pretty sophisticated and well traveled lady. Involved in Texas legislature and education system, highly regarded by UT Texas, author, professor emeritus, rubs elbows with the upper echelon, laundry list of honors, fellowships, awards, etc. Hangs out on the East coast now.

She can offer a pretty valuable perspective.

I keep telling people here in the city, whenever they raise the argument of "citizens won't be able to resist the Military" that they won't have to. All they have to do is cut off all the major LOCs (Lines of Communications; i.e. roads, rail, ports...) and sit back and watch the mayhem ensue. An organized insurgency against food shipments is all they need to be successful at, and only marginally successful at that.

This article is right about one thing for sure, there are a LOT of (quiet) conservatives here in the urban areas who have stockpiled a considerable about of ammo and weapons for just such an event.

Nothing but a goddamn commie!

Maybe so, I really haven't talked to her much.

It'd be great to get some solid answers from a huge democrat donor/supporter/activist on what their goals actually are. So far it's been level-setting (to be expected), and some common talking points RE: Trump on her side. On mine, fuckin' essays with citations and other supporting material, as usual.

My hope is that because we share blood, I'll get farther than I do with the average "DemSoc". Get access to some of that Cuomo/Rahm/Bloomberg/Obama current strategy stuff.

Just something to chew on and please understand I am not blowing my own horn..

I have 2 Masters and 2 Bachelors degrees. All technical except one Master in Finance. All from top 25 or better schools in New England. I have traveled millions of air miles and have been on all of the continents except Australia. I have seen more of the world than I have the US. I get to meet a lot of distinguished technical, business and policy leaders in multiple countries. I have run companies in technical and business areas. I live in New England not in a city but still liberal.

I have not lost my perspective nor have I forgotten how my VALUES have got me to where I am from where I grew up in a bad part of a shithole city outside of Boston to parents who came here LEGALLY and had no money, education and no understanding of the English language.

You don't need to compromise your values to be successful. I surely bite my tongue a lot...sometime to the point where it bleeds but that is the business I am in and I have made peace with it. I learn a lot about the enemy's weaknesses and motivations which helps me plan accordingly.

Just because your cousin is successful and hobnobs with the "elite" doesn't make her better than anyone else

I know you know that but just a reminder

Yep.

I know she's not "better" than anyone else, but in terms of fish and their sizes, she's not a small fish by any means. She's fuckin' smart, and since I got an opportunity to confront someone that moves around with the folks I want to see hung for treason, I figured I ought to take the opportunity to do that and see what the fuck happens.

If the stuff I'm working on works the way I pray it does, this type of thing is gonna be fairly common, and the more experience I have doing it, and the better understanding of how they're gonna dissect my arguments (which are fairly unique, albeit unrefined, at this point), the better.

This is how I know she is a statist.

She is smarter than us mouthbreathers. And knows what’s best for us.

Highly regarded by UT. That right there identifies her as a liberal. Austin is a liberal cesspool in a otherwise great place to be.

Statits are more concerned about where they were educated, and who they know. rather than what they know and how they could help others help themselves. I’ve been to college three times, quit three times. I had 24 credit hours my last semester and had a 4.0, made the Deans list. But yes, I quit again. I was not as educated as my teachers in my Criminal Justice/Pre-Law classes, but I damn sure was more wise and smarter in many areas. I got sick of being preched too about how my conservative views were “wrong” or “immoral”.... that’s right, I still can’t wrap my head around them trying to be the bar of morality. The progressive movement who banned DDT One of the best mosquito killers ever made, all on the notion of poor science saying it made eggs of birds soft and miss carry their young. Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of people died from malaria in areas where DDT was banned. This is the same Group of people who just last week stood and gave a loud clapping ovation to the new abortion law passed in New York.

Progressive statists make me rage. Zero interest in rational thought.

unfriend her ass, you dont need the negativity, its choosing sides time

If you a commie enemy of my constitution you ain’t no friend of mine or even related to me anymore.

Lol, what? Aren't you voting for the democrats this go around?

Besides, this is an e-mail thread. No friending/unfriending applicable.

Hook 'em baby! That read was a trip. Say Calizuelafication ten times fast. What kinda spoke out to me was that my Dad would be considered a VAMP but I'm nothing more than a FACLI empathizer.

Did you ever figure out how to get your rifle on paper at 100 yds or is that still one of life's mysteries?
I got it on my 2nd go around. Even got the SBR sighted in at 100 as well. Just needed to take my time and do it properly. It took me 4 hours to go from 25yd range to 100 yd range with both rifles.

In other words she's a fucking limousine liberal who thinks she's better than all of us "uneducated" rubes.

The economy doing better under Obama????????? LOL that tells you how fucking stupid she really is.

If you think she doesn't hold you and all of us in contempt, well , you need a wake up call.

She's the enemy and tThe only place people like her belong is six feet underground.

I feel like you guys are making a lot of assumptions about a person you haven't met. I know you guys are trying to save @QuickNDirty some grief but he's (apologies for assuming your gender, ;)) a grown up and civil discourse with those on the opposite aisle makes us better debaters and quick to educate those who are ignorant of the facts.
Fight feelings with facts. Offer better alternatives than violence. If you don't do either people just get hurt.
I don't know why I'm a little more sensitive to this topic. Maybe because she's from my alma mater and the go to in the Bear Pit is to bash anyone who tries to educate themselves.
Keep up the good fight @QuickNDirty. And maybe take her to a gun range. Focus on safety and she might have fun.

It's a shame that most of those who "try to educate themselves" sleep though or skip history class and want to try again all the crap that has been proven failures

What am I supposed to do
If I want to talk about peace and understanding
But you only understand the language of the sword
What if I want to make you understand that the path you chose leads to downfall
But you only understand the language of the sword
What if I want to tell you to leave me and my beloved ones in peace
But you only understand the language of the sword
I let the blade do the talking...
So my tongue shall become iron
And my words the mighty roar of war
Revealing my divine anger´s arrow shall strike
All action for the good of all
I see my reflection in your eyes
But my new age has just begun
The sword is soft
In the fire of the furnace
It hungers to be hit
And wants to have a hundred sisters
In the coldest state of their existence
They may dance the maddest
In the morass of the red rain
Beloved brother enemy
I sing my sword song for you
The lullaby of obliteration
So I can wake up with a smile
And bliss in my heart
And bliss in my heart
And bliss in my heart
Coexistence, Conflict, combat
Devastation, regeneration, transformation
That is the best I can do for you
I see a grey gloom on the horizon
That promises a powerful sun to rise
To melt away all moons
It will make the old fires of purification
Look like dying embers
Look like dying embers
Look like dying embers

Ah the Democratic Socialist. They have deluded themselves in thinking that they are any different than the socialist dictators that have plagued this planet. But instead of one person making the decision its mob rule.
Ask her what happens when Medicare for All is enforced and the government shuts down.

Pretty much my whole family is upper-middle-class gun grabbers. I love them, but goddamn are they completely out of touch with literally anything except the price of gasoline. Talking to them about guns is 90% them saying "I doubt that" and refusing to look it up on their phones, and 10% me getting dragged into an argument about male entitlement and/or feminism. It's fucking RIDICULOUS how idiotic a perfectly intelligent and well-mannered person can be when they think their opinion is god-given and divine, even when they know that they have been lied to or convinced themselves of a lie. I don't even talk to those folks in my family anymore. I consider it treason by means of ignorance when someone is spoon feeding you the statistical and historical truth but you just want to believe whatever so you can feel smart or safe.

Well that's what happens when the masses call people who change their minds spineless and flip floppers. If we had encouraged change of hearts maybe people would be more fluid in their beliefs and critically think about the grays in the world.

I think there's a big distinction to be made for what I'd consider a "flip-flopper" and someone who "changed their minds" about something.

To me, a flip-flopper is someone who at one point says they believe in/support X and at a later point denies having ever believed in/supported X and has always believed in/supported Y. Youtube videos showing otherwise be damned.

That's what we get with politicians. None of them ever come out and say, "Yeah, back then I was a fucktard. Experience hath shewn that I was wrong as hell and I've grown since then. I now support Y, and if I could go back in time to when I was spouting bullshit about X, I'd have whooped my own ass to within an inch of my life."
