My baseball coach and Police Sergeant/retired, died this week. I remember many things about him but two things about him stick out:
1. When I was eight he took a mean, angry kid, without any direction ( me) who would have probably ended up in prison for beating someone to death and gave me guidance, that got me going in the right direction.
2. When I became a cop he took me aside and told me" Remember when you where a kid out of control? Try to take kids you meet like that and send them in the correct direction"
I tried my best to do what he asked but never did as well as he did with many kids.
