Hello. Ive been on the hide for a while now, and finally got my first High powered rifle(m1a). Just bought a mcmillan m1a stock off of gunbroker and ordering all the other little goodies i want before I send it to warbird. my question is...

- what size scope objective? I actually just ordered a NF 2.5-10x32 from Lilja this morning, but am now considering calling back and changing it to the 50mm obj. Anybody have experience with the compact?(better yet, with both?)

Is the 32mm obj enough? or is it more of a 223/5.56 scope?

Is the 50mm gonna be heads and shoulders better?

Anybody mount either of these on a m1a/m14?

pics would be cool:)

thanks in advance for any input.

Re: A little advice please

Objective size doesn't have anything to do with the caliber of you gun. I've owned the 2.5-10x24 and unless you're trying to shoot before the sun rises or after it sets, you really can't tell a difference between that and a 50mm.

But get whatever you want, usually people get smaller objectives so they can mount the scope lower. With a M1A you're going to be mounting the scope so high that the size of the objective isn't going to matter. The 50mm is going to top out at 15x, rather than 10x and will have adjustable parallax. On an M1A this probably won't make much of a difference in your group sizes, but if you ever want to shoot tiny little groups on a bolt gun then it would be a lot easier.

The 2.5-10x32 would be my choice though, just cause I like em. But that really means squat.
