Re: A little different, Bowen Custom Nimrod 44 mag.

It is still a 6 shot, I think he starts doing the 5 shot with the 45 long colts up to the 500, and the Bisley frame is a lot better than the standard grip frame for me at least. Easier to hold on to and better for the recoil as it can slide a little when shot. They are super nice people there, the work is second to none and they are very quick to get the work done.

Barnes, nice pistol! Hamilton is one of America's greatest gunsmiths, you will be rewarded with both accuracy and increased valuations over time. I hope you bought his book on gunsmithing as that too is a classic. Get him to sign it and put your name and pistol's serial number in it. I started off with a Redhawk in .44 mag many years ago and went to .500 Linebaugh (5 shot) ala the old Alpine but kept the full grip as well. I can think of no reason for you to ever leave the .44 mag as five rounds of the .500 L. in a pistol of this size is not fun at all. He calls it unpleasant, I call it a frozen finger snapped clean a number of years back. Yeeeowweee!

Keep it in good shape, you've got a winner there. Turnbull as well, nice!

That is a .22 next to a .45 Long Colt next to the .500 Linebaugh. I think he takes it to only a .50 AE now on the 4" barrels, probably smart!

Re: A little different, Bowen Custom Nimrod 44 mag.

I have a good friend that has a couple of Bowen's guns. One of them is a Alpine conversion in the 500 Linebaugh and it is a handfull but it is not as bad as his Nimrod in the 500 linebaugh. He also has an old 3 screw blackhawk that has the lightweight conversion in 45 LC, which is his favorite and they all have Roy Fishpaw custom grips which are about a year wait on those. I should be receiving a second Nimrod in the next week or so in 41 mag( my favorite hunting handgun caliber) and will post a pic when I get it. That is a good idea to get his book and BTW that is a great looking Bowen you have.
