So I finally got out with the Kimber CDP II. I got my sight pusher tool first and was able to remove the series II safety and replace the stock pin with a titanium pin. I rough zeroed the 1911 prior to shooting the video here, and have since made one tiny adjustment and need to reconfirm zero.

The Sights didn't really agree with me, as you can see in the accuracy firing protion of the video, the elevation error is some result of me mentally not agreeing with the sights / their being difficult to read.

The gun however is accurate and reliable (no malfs of any type in my first 75 rounds with the pistol). The recoil is light to moderate, but with one hand obviously is a little stiffer than a Glock 19, as my Glock 19 one hand rapid fire segments were much more controlled than my Kimber CDP Pro Segments.

I don't really see this as a major issue, because the whole point of the 1911 is to have a gun that places a round where you aim it, and hits things harder than 9mm, so you don't need three rounds to do the job of one.

The Galco Concealable holster I have is not the most low profile rig around, but it doesn't require larger pants and is super confortable, as well as fast into action. I might get an IWB rig for it, but I like the Galco and will probably use it whenever I can.

I know it's not directly related to the two firearms above. But felt recoil wise is the 1911 worse than the glock? I was arguing with a friend about it because i honestly figured the Glock being half the weight of a full size 1911 would recoil more.

With 1911's a lot of how the gun recoils will depend on the recoil and mainspring weights, and their condition as well as the fit of the parts in the gun (tightly fitted guns should have less felt recoil because they will soak more energy out of the system before the springs become involved).

The Glock will recoil more being a lighter gun, but a 9mm glock is still significantly lighter recoiling than a 1911 in .45ACP.

The Gen 4 Glock I was comparing it against has a new recoil system that seems to provide even lighter recoil characteristics than typical of the G19.

I owned one before & like it too. The only thing that I changed was the Mainspring Housing (MSH) to the one by Wilson Combat (just didn't feel right with the plastic one, but I guess it's just me :))

Yeah i've shot the gen 4 21 and 22. I haven't shot a 1911 yet. The Gen 4 21 has a bit of muzzle flip in my inexperienced hands but it is very enjoyable to shoot.

The 26.5 ounce weight without a magazine is nice, and the plastic MSH is part of what makes that possible. I like that about it, and the parts are working, but I understand how plastic has a bad reputation with the traditional 1911 crowd.

Try a 9mm. The 9mm guns are very controllable, and they are a pretty lethal gun, especially when loaded with good hollow points like Federal Hydrashok.
