Just shooting singles and short bursts. So no Pratts can.
Belt trouble didn't help. Rounds were stuck in the old canvas after the winter.... can't leave rounds in old belts. They stick. Got to load them right before shooting....
Links are so much better....
Also broke out one of the Bren's... now that shoots like an electric typewriter with the X key held down....

You will have to get yourself an industrial sewing machine and learn how to use it OR ... make nice to a local canvas outfit / sailmaker.
Hi PMI.... Vickers (Maxim license... then improved) was much earlier than mechanized stuff. But for the heck of it, I did some research to see if, later, they put in a different feed block or created a 'switch' side. Could not find anything, so I think they were limited to a right belt.
Biggest problem I am having with mine is the now... very... antique canvas/cloth belts are just jamming.... I have a couple of ideas... including trying ironing them. But one of these days, someone is going to need to put these back into production! I also want to try some of my Russian Maxim belts. They look like they would work.... Next time I need some Vickers therapy!

Is it that they are becoming too pliable? If so, might be worth soaking in hot water and then drying with a hairdryer (?). I have no clue, just throwing spaghetti against the wall to see what sticks...
Edit: Come to think of it, to make them stiffer, soaking/spraying them in a 50/50 solution of sta-flo bottled starch and water would probably work too (it certainly worked for making our utility uniforms practically stand up on their own).
