The Newsmax crawl is now reporting this morning that the Publix chain of grocery stores will permit OC in their Florida stores. This, apparently, in response to the change in court actions that (apparently) now allow OC in Florida. I knew I'd heard something about that before, but was still skeptical, not wanting to be the "test case."

So, a "Publi" walk now, in addition to a "Wally Walk?" This should prove interesting. Almost makes me want to shop more at Publix to see how many will "participate."

    Almost.... Still too pricey. 🤪

Lawful Open Carry prevents any "imperial entanglements" one might experience with the rare but not unheard of combination of accidentally printing or partial exposure of CC weapon and an LEO having a bad day who wants to pass it on to a law abiding citizen.

I'm pro LE but I'm also for open carry being legal, though I'll almost always conceal for the tactical advantage.

What's the point of OC in FL? They already have Constitutional Carry.

Two different things. "Constitutional Carry" (actually "Permitess Carry" in FL) only allows one to carry without the need for a License/Permit, as long as you are, otherwise, eligible to carry per State Law. One needs only a valid DL or state ID. But that has nothing to do with OC (how one carries) and FL law still made that illegal.

Now, apparently, some courts have struck down FL's law banning OC. We'll see how long that holds before being challenged again. And, Publix is responding to the strikedown. We'll see how it goes, but I think I'll stay "concealed" and maintain my CWFL. It does things for me that Permitless carry can't. 1) Reciprocity in other states; 2) Immediate FFL delivery instead of waiting 3 days; 3) Carry within 1000 ft. of a School Zone.

    Ditto.

The wife is happy theiy're opening another Publix closer to us.

i don't remember any signs prohibiting firearms at publix's there? but good to know they're allowing.

yeah i was shocked when i went to pick up a lower there in florida (va resident but also a condo in fla) and had to wait 3 days. so i did get my florida permit to avoid a waiting period. most of us already have a gun (or ten) so the waiting period (like all other gun control) is a waste.

That's the one very reason why I'd want to see OC in FL. It removes a lot of the "discretion" by LE when enforcing 'Improper display" laws. That was the 3rd of my "Fab 4" things I want DeSantis to do before he leaves office. The first is repeal/eliminate Red Flag laws for the reasons stated so many times before. The 2nd is eliminate and "Felonize" State level "Civil Asset Forfeiture." No one but a Court should have the authority to deprive a US CItizen of their property and only after a lawful adjudication within that court.

I live in Florida and have yet to see a single person open carry. I would like to believe most people realize that very little good can come from exercising this right. The only think I've seen is a social media picture of some rage baiter with a Draco strapped to his back on a motorcycle (allegedly) in Florida.

Aside from the general "constitutionality" aspect of it, there are some who like to go fishing and hunting (two things where you were allowed to OC) but kept getting harassed by LE. I believe the PInellas County Pier is one place where the OC'ers get harassed a lot.

Honestly, I think it will be quite a while before OC becomes "socially acceptable" in FL, assuming the legality of it sticks (and I have my doubts about that). It is acceptable in states like Tx and Az. Not in FL. Too many NY'ers moving down here. One is likely to be SWATed instantly if caught OC'ing... even if legal. There are also the establishment forces here such as "The Rodent," "the FRF" , "Reno's RINOs" and the FL Sheriff's assoc. All of them don't want it either. And I believe these are the people that have the FL Legislature wrapped around their fingers. It will take some powerful mojo to (as Lindsey Buckingham would say), "break the chain."

Well, I have no qualms admitting at a gun forum that I am pretty anti-OC. Not from a legal sense because I don't believe in any form of gun control or bannings. I just feel if you OC, you're putting yourself and the others around you in immediate danger if an attack is gonna happen. It's pretty much a sign above you that reads "kill me first" to a mass shooter. CC is the way to go because you have the element of surprise on your side.

Agreed. And that's one of the reasons why I prefer to stay "Concealed." So that the BGs don't know what I have until it's time to show them! 🤠

Open carry is legal here in NC. However, we also have a dumbass statute known as Going Armed to the Terror of the People. And with all the foreigners that have moved in here, open carry is essentially useless these days for that reason. About the only time I'll open carry is when in the woods. Everywhere else, it's concealed.

Some days you just want to show your support for the second amendment, I open carry those days.

Some days it's just a FU liberals day, I open carry then.

Some places you go to look at you funny if not open carrying, like you were a libtard from the big city or some kind of deviant, criminal maybe.

The welcoming feeling when you walk into a small town cafe and a batch of the adults are armed openly and half the rest are concealed let's me know I am exactly where I belong.

    God Bless the USA

I agree 100%, but it is nice to have the option when you are out of city limits.

That just happened to me the first time the other day, it’s not a good feeling.
But thankfully it occurred after the law was passed.
I just felt bad for the few folks that most likely seen it.
    I don’t want to scare the square’s.

Well, I think it’s great (and important) that OC is not infringed.

But with you 100 percent that my personal choice is to be discreet and carry concealed. For myriad reasons.

Not the least of which is I don’t want to be shot first.

But totally support open carry. Because “Shall not be Infringed”

Though some days think it would be fun to wear
My pair of Ivory gripped Blackhawks in their cowboy rig into the local leftist-CheGuevara-dick-gobbling coffee place… just to watch the trust fund socialists gag on their triple foam latte soy half-caff dick-sucker drinks.

Open carry is stupid, especially in a place like Florida. Felons can get a free gun by simply bashing your retarded head in with a can of beans. Or better yet follow you home for more free guns and shit.

Yeah, your are like Rambo only tougher we all heard the stories. But in reality you are a cunt with a gun and poor situational awareness like most open carry idiots.

Yeah you have the right to be an idiot. Doesn't mean you should be an idiot. Guns are way more fun when it's a surprise.

Annnnnnnnndddddddd open carry Rambo arrived on scene. Go ahead fatty, tell us one of those open carry tough guy stories.

There is no Rambo to it.

I'm just sick of the leaches that won't carry the load.

I would expect shit loads more from a USAF Master Sergeant.

Spare me. Wtf does being an open carry fucktard have to do with anything? That has jack shit to do with anything related to being pro gun. Not once has one of you assholes waving your CCW badge ever stopped or prevented a crime much less saved yourselves.

Happen red d to me seven or eight years ago. Walked through a crowded restaurant with my 1911 completed visible. Realized when I got in the car. Waited for cops to arrived, but they never did. Pretty sure no one noticed.

Do you have them spaced 2.5-3.5 miles apart like we do around here?

More or less, but...we pass by the new one picking up/dropping off the grandkids. This will be number four in our not so big city.

The wife has been using Kroger delivery just to avoid traffic. I suspect she will drop that when the new store opens.

Someone noticed for sure. Maybe a few people did.
They probably thought you were just showing off a proper carry piece.

If it had been a Glock, someone would have told you to cover that shit up. 😄

Yaaaay for the plastic fantastic pistols.

You are annoying and not right in the head. What type of offense did you commit to exclude you from getting your license 🪪.

yea shop at publix a lot. good place, more expensive than some others. the idea that any "carry" law is unconstitutional is fact. "shall not be infringed" is pretty obvious. we have been so abused that we are happy to have any relief even if that is a 2A violation, which CC laws are. i favor open carry and would never do it. it's a "shoot me 1st" sign. it makes accidental printing a non issue for the pigs that like to enforce brandishing laws. also makes carrying a larger piece less of a risk of pig hassle. and yes,Pinellas has been way left since the 60s at least. it has always gotten a large # of NY commies over many years. about as bad as Dade and Alachua. a CCP does make buying less of a PITA,even private sales. a CCP is a pretty good sign that you are a legal res and not a felon. i carry all the places i fish and if i ever hunt again will carry a concealed HG.

Yeah that must be it. I've been carrying concealed for more than 25 years and never had an issue.

Your and your Uncle Mike's holster strutting thru Publix in crocs and a food stained Tshirt on the other hand.

You're wrong, you have lots of issues.
No wonder you never made senior or chief. Too stupid.

Took forever to get this state to change laws and I intend to make sure it doesn't go to waste.

I've had a CHL / LTC since the law was put on the books.
As far as open carry I like to make liberal shits cry and whine about it like the fools you and they are.

You don't like the law of the land, get it changed like we did or just move to some Communist shithole and shut up your 😭

Did you not read my preemptive crying post above?

Awwwwwww you are gonna hurt my feelings. Except comments from a faggot wearing crocs don't hurt my feelings.

I'm sure the public will feel a lot safer to see you in a grocery store carrying your $300 dollar gun. Watching you whip out your EBT card and buy frozen pizza rolls by the case will be the icing on your classy cake.

Maybe you can regale a few passersby with a story of how you almost served, or almost became a cop or almost had sex with a woman or small farm animal. I hear they love that stuff. Throw in an I'm from New York or Jersey for bonus points.
